Whats your turn off on a reborn?

Thank you!

Also dark skin babies with bright red lips. That what they used to sell in retail.Thick eyebrows, and thick eyelashes. Some people slap these reborn dolls together with bad painted hair,a paint job of a five year old child.Always request more pictures,if you are in doubt. And sometimes a hundred dollar reborns,( unless it’s a boo boo or used reborn baby) you get what you pay, for. And then again I have seen reborn price higher that look like crap.

Nothing is wrong with it. I have used them in the past, but when I put them in place, I use a rooting needle to try and press them a bit into the eyelid crease.

Ha? I see so many WIP pictures with rooting start on the back. When I had that question in the beginning, 99% of RA said that they are rooring from the back. What I am missing here?

Correct me if I’m wrong @MilosMeadows I think what she means is front to crown, back to crown. If you start in the back, work your way to the crown. If you start in the front, work your way back towards the crown. The word “back” can mean several different things to different people.

Yup exactly what I meant! But also @YelenaRey I do start in the front of the head also. I’ve tried starting on the back but found that I got sloppy by the time I got to the hairline which is the most important part so I root that first now while I can focus on making it perfect.

Thank you for the explanation @Alypants and @MilosMeadows. Sometime I understand English for the face value :joy:

IDK. I’ve always started my rooting in the back and still do.

Heavens! Don’t do that! English doesn’t even make sense half the time.

We have the same problems in french…

Babies that are too realistic. I guess it’s weird to find someone who likes reborns but doesn’t really like babies however I’m not a baby person at all, I’d never want a real one. I love dolls though so for me a reborn is perfect but I like them to be cute and dolly.

I don’t like cuts, scratches or any markings, sideways facing eyes or any expressions (you’re stuck with them, I prefer to have eyes that simply look straight ahead and imagine any expressions), one straight leg and one bent (again you’re stuck with it), bald babies, painted hair, too light weightwise, wide open or odd mouths (seen many reborns who looked nice until the pacifier was removed) , zombie/vampire/elf/monkey babies, screwed up faces, asleep babies…

There’s a reason I’ve had 6 reborns before finally getting one I’m happy with…

With londyn I started at, hmmm I can’t temember :flushed: but with Elizabeth I started at the crown.

I think I’m supposed to work in round and do the spiral last?

I start at the back, working in rounds until I get to the crown.

The main reason for starting on the back is for avoiding problems. Like, mohair staining, too big holes, not the right mohair, etc. You don’t want to mess up the front. In the back it’s less terrible.
I screw up my Zuri by starting on the front to realize that the black mohair was staining.

That makes sense but the front is my preference and I won’t change it lol I used to start in the back and didn’t like it.

I don’t like it either, I prefer starting in the front, but I promise myself to not destroy another kit with rooting !

I always test the mohair before rooting to make sure the dye doesn’t leak, I don’t root with hair I’m not confident in.

I do the same as @MilosMeadows for the exact same reasons. But it would never hurt to do a small spot on the back of the neck to alleviate any concerns you might have but I love being fresh and excited when I work on the area that frames the face. Then I can root the back when I am feeling DONE!
