You have to root sleeping baby lashes… it’s really easy!!!
Rooting lashes on a sleeping baby is not hard to do. It seems scary the first time but you can do it!
Ok…now I want to try that
I am guilty of pink nosed babies with wet nostrils…I seem to make babies that look like little drunken leprehcauns.
LOL, we are talking about personal preferences. If this is your ‘signature style’ which I know by watching your videos that it is, and you like it, then who cares what other people think. Your babies are popular and I would like to have one of yours, but I would not paint red nose on mine. Also I didn’t see your gloss running out of their noses. I need to find examples to show you exactly what I am talking about, and like @ellakabella said you will hate them too
If you are creating babies for yourself, not for sale, and have some restrictions, then it’s fine to do what works for you. We are talking about babies that put for sale.
For what it’s worth, until I stated reading this board I never even looked at eyelashes when browsing babies. It just never crossed my mind. Now when I look I do notice them, but they aren’t a big deal to me personally.
The problem with applied lashes on a sleeping baby is that the black line of the material they’re connected to is very visible. Try some thread lashes. secristdolls.com and hunnybunsrebornsupply.com have some but colors are limited. They’re hard to find. Try rooting lashes between the toes or fisted fingers on a test part if you have one. It’s not exactly the same, but close.
This is a GREAT topic I’ve learned so much! Here are some pics for ya’ll lol
I tried my hand at rooting eyebrows on Brittney and ooooy then I was practicing eyebrows on Elizabeth with an eyebrow pencil and I’m thinking my babies won’t have brows. Ugh hate them
I’ve been trying to figure out rooting and I’m thinking all my babies will have thick curly blonde hair cause you can’t see the follicles as well. Londyn is my test head and you can see another attempt of eyebrows on her, and poor Elizabeth! I was going for a sparsely rooted look and just looks really bad. Going to give her a go with the tweezers soon. I would love to know how to make that swirl on the back of thier head cause it sure wasn’t the the way I did it lol!
Oh and e6000 doesn’t hold up to the heat from a rooting lamp and the other side of the magnet melted the bottom ridge of Elizabeth’s lip flat, so don’t try that at home kids
Kase will be a portrait doll of my daughter who had crossed eyes most of her newborn days and it was the most endearing thing, all turned out fine as you can see. The eyes were the only thing my daughter liked out of any of the dolls I’ve done.
And that’s all I’ll admit to for today I will say again this post gets post of the year. So much good info.
I hope my photos gave y’all a wee chuckle and note I’m a photographer by profession and have yet to post a nice photo so here’s one of a very sweet special real six week baby
A lot of my pet peeves are already listed, French manicures, wet nostrils, bad paint, bad hair. I’m not a fan of painted hair and rarely see any I like, but combi hair really bugs me cause it doesn’t blend. Root or paint but be good at it, which (see above) I’m not lol
Here’s a view of a few of my babes. My poor husband
I have tried to root eyebrows too and the result was nor so bad, but not really great either. I have leave them long enough to applied a glue (Liquitex medium for one and a medium for applied hair) . The thing is they become mess up over time.
I draw them now, less trouble !
I am guilty of lot of the thing mentioned above too… Hopefully I have improved with time and practice !
*Your daughter is beautiful !
I tried rooting eyebrows. For me personally, I will never trying rooting eyebrows again . I just wanted to say these posts have lightened my heart. I really needed to smile.
It’s awesome you have such a great sense of humor about your mistakes and can laugh and share the laughs:rofl:. You are way too stubborn to not get great at rooting. My hubby had a ferret that wanted a blanket laying outside of his cage. While they were gone he got a piece of it and spent all day pulling and tugging it through the small bars until he did get that entire blanket into his cage. Your persistence reminds me of the ferret, you will succeed
My dog does that too lol With enough patience and effort you can do it!
@PhotographyForLife I may be wrong but it looks like you’re rooting back to front, when you should be rooting front to back so that the hairs don’t get in the way. This may help you get the right thickness and even-ness. Unless you’re already doing that, either way, keep going! You’ll do it eventually! Do you wanna see my first rooting to make yourself feel better? It was bad lol
I started in the front with londyn and when it came to the swirl it was a hot mess. So I started with the swirl on Elizabeth and omg what a tangled mess that has been! Mohair is like Velcro! I’ve since watched more videos but I’m impatient and must learn hands on . I would LOVE to see your first root.
Lmao oh yes I am determined to make a perfect baby! Then I’ll get bored and quit lol
Custom doll baby made it look so easy
Map it out first, and go with a simple swirl to begin with. I can try to map out a head to show you how I do it, in a basic and more complex way if it would be helpful. Here’s my first baby, and my first rooting. He was a hot mess and his hair took me 16 hours even though its SO sparse and he’s a tiny micro preemie
Caleb! He looks adorable. You’ve hid any horror very well
He’s worse in person lol I should’ve taken a pic of his hair but I didn’t think to at the time. But thank you! I was 15 when I made him and was so proud of him
Wow!!! True talent
