LOL! I guess it goes as ‘Inspired by…’
Yay!!!
I could be remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure I saw Bonnie Brown post a positive comment on a picture Laura Lee Eagles shared of Gertie on Facebook.
In my eyes Saskia and Gertie don’t really look too much alike. There are obvious similarities, but to me it looks like two completely different children making the same face/pose. It’s a unique face as far as kits go, but many real babies have made that face.
@AmandasyReborns I can’t wait to see your Saskia!
Saskia was the first sculpt I saw and absolutely fell I love with. When I saw there was such a thing as Gertie, I got mad . I don’t mean to seem rude but that’s how she made me feel
.
At first glance, I thought it was Saskia, but she looked the tiniest bit different. When I did some more looking I found out it was Gertie and I did think for a second “Did she copy Bonnie?” but realistically I knew that wasnt possible as they are both very well known sculptors.
The only version I like of Gertie is Svetlana Gundarina’s version. She is beautiful.
No matter, I still definitely love Saskia so much more. Her mouth looks more relaxed in my opinion and I love how chubby her little cheeks are.
The only time I ever thought about purchasing a Gertie kit was too switch Saskias limbs with Gerties…just for fun, I prefer Saskias but I feel like it would be fun to do something a tiny bit different .
I remember when Saskia first came out and I didn’t like her AT ALL! About a year later after I saw how versatile she was and how dang cute all the versions of her were I broke down and bought one. She is one of my very Favorite babies, I fell in love with her while I was working on her. She is really precious, you will fall in love with her!!
SHE’S HERE!!!
I must start off by saying 3 month Joseph has ruined me. lol I saw that Saskia was 22.5 inches, so I figured, “Oh, she’s only half an inch shorter than Josephine, they can share clothes…WRONG!”
Well, if you want to paint her together @YelenaRey let’s go. I wanted to wait until October/November because dummy me was assuming she was close to Josephine’s size and I sure ain’t looking to paint another HUGE baby anytime soon.
You should have seen my face when UPS dropped her off…it was excitement cause I saw the Macphersons label, but then that excitement immediately died when I saw the box size. Surely, they sent me the wrong kit…NOPE…just got bamboozled by 3 month Joseph into thinking length = same overall size. 🤦🤣🤦
Overall, still excited, cause instead of having to wait til the end of the year, I can start working on her with my alternative baby for the parade and the Fairy Fawna for my sister-in-law. Maybe she’ll be done by my birthday and if I get the Levi kit for my birthday, he’ll be my Christmas baby.
I hope you all enjoyed this laugh at my expense! Lesson learned, don’t judge a kit by its measurements. lol
I cannot believe I actually OWN a Saskia
Always super super exciting!! Yayyy!
When I got my first Saskia kit, she was smaller than I thought but once he got painted, weighted and assembled, I just fell in love with the size! It’s not to big and not too small (Imo).
I’ve never had a 3 month Joseph, so I can’t compare BUT with the many pictures I have seen of him, he looks huge . Bigger than a Maddie. I probably wouldn’t be able to paint that big of a baby without going crazy
.
Honestly, one of my favorite reborn related things IS a blank Saskia kit. It sounds funny and maybe even odd but I find them perfect from the start. I can’t wait to see how this baby turns out!!
I am so happy that you finally got your Saskia and she is a big girl but so cute
Love that finger she put up and i know you will make here beautiful !
Saskia looks cute no matter what you do to her, like Shyann, very versitle sculpts. Almost wish I had one to paint with you two! She takes paint really well.
Thank you very much @RoyalAnchor, @ineke1957, and @AnnieSokay!
I’m very excited to have her…with everything I learned up til now with alternatives to what I have learned while reborning 3 month Joseph, she couldn’t have arrived at a better time. I already had my mind set on eventually buying the kit and saving it until I got enough money to pay someone to paint her for me because I had already resigned myself to only being able to paint alternatives…never thought I would be able to create any realistic babies.
Enter 3 month Josephine along with the talented help from all the artists here and I’m on my way to my first actual realistic baby. I can only get better from here. I still love my alternatives (and Saskia would make an adorable zombie), but I want to make her realistic because I have so many alternatives in the works after my Josephine.
I’m glad she takespaint really well! I need a kit that work’s with and not against me.
Saskia’s are so fun. Who knows, maybe in the future you will buy another Saskia to paint as a alternative! I’ve had 3 Saskias at once and it was so fun! I will add a pic…I’m on my laptop so I am going to take advantage of that . I painted the girlies. Neither of them are perfect but I still loved them dearly. I didn’t paint Levi, (the boy) he was my first reborn. Still here and will always be here. However he does have brown eyes now which I love.
I plan to paint many more Saskias, I’ve considered them as cuddle babies and so on . You will have a lot of fun with this baby! I’m very excited for you!
I am a newbie just posted my first baby this past week, but I have “Saskia” in my small stash babies. I am learning to paint open mouth, for her, It will be worth the time and effort. She is my dream baby. It is comforting for me, to read what you just said; that no scammer will win in this battle. I also bought my Sakia, from Macpherson, had a legit COA, and will enjoy her as soon as I feel ready to make her “ justice”.
You absolutely, no doubts can paint her for yourself and she will be beautiful. You are so patient and attentive to the details, you listen well to all suggestions, you ‘human’ baby is coming out great - there is no reason for you not to do it by yourself
I love your baby boy Saskia!
Thank you! Hes a dream
I LOVE my Saskia, you’re going to love yours also. Here’s a quick pic of mine.
She’s an air dry baby.I absolutely adore your Saskia, Lynn.
Thank you, she came out nice for a first air dry. Pale, but in person her coloring is really nice. I was real happy with her when she was finished.
Well. You went and did it @ellakabella! You just made me love Saskia - yours!
