Read it and not happy, and a little confused. Do we all need tax licenses now in order to sell our dolls to people in other states?

You need the resale certificate if you want to buy wholesale from BB. When you buy wholesale with the intent to sell you don’t pay taxes.

If you aren’t worried about buying wholesale, not paying taxes on purchase, not gaining access to their sales ect.,then you can carry on as you have been.

I do like the sales though. That’s usually when I buy. Oh well. Have a large stash to get to and then will see how things are when I’m done with those.

Yes…i usually stock up on bodies once a year when they are on sale.

Although i have just been ording a body with whatever sculpt i order from MacPs…they are usually not that much more.

I have some questions about this wholesale site thing:
1.) since it will be wholesale, would we have to buy kits, bodies, other supplies etc. in bulk? Would we be able to buy kits one at a time?

2.) If we don’t have a sales tax id, we can’t shop at the wholesale site? How will we be able to prove we have the ID? I live in Maryland and was looking up the certificate stuff and this was one of the things that came up:

I’m just confused

I saw Nevin respond to these questions on Facebook, they have a very long thread going on the BB Facebook page with many responses about concerns.

They said it will not be a bulk ordering site, just wholesale pricing on individual items, that the wholesale site will look exactly like the current retail site.

I’ve had a resale (wholesale tax exemption) certificate for some time now, when you get your certificate they give you a copy with your tax exempt number and everything on it. BB said when you apply for wholesale site membership you will submit these documents, I’m assuming electronically but he didn’t specify.

They also went into more detail there about who will be affected, anyone who lives in a tax exempt state in the US will not be required to have a tax certificate to apply for membership. And since the tax laws are only in the US everyone outside of the US will be able to apply for membership without a certificate as well. They also said prices will be exactly the same on both sites for ā€œa timeā€.

I live in South Carolina

I don’t know what states don’t do sales tax, well I know Oregon doesn’t, I’m sure there’s lists online, but you would definitely know if you shop locally there would be no sales tax on your purchases.

I got an email with the link to the new wholesale site. I clicked on it. It has you fill out your name and address and then tax ID #. I left as I don’t have one and will not be getting one.

I didn’t get the email. Maybe I don’t buy enough to get included, LOL. I am still looking into what all would be involved on my end if I got the TaxID etc and if I really need one.

I got the email as well and since it said the license was $16 in my state, I figured, let me try to sign up but then I would have to register this as a business with the SOS before I can get the license and the questions were confusing and the fees and I gave up lol

I won’t be able to as I do as hobby and WA state so there is taxes here. I’m on SSI so I can’t do that

I did not get the email, but I do not have a tax ID. I probably should take advantage of this as I pay income taxes, but I am not sure how to go about collecting the sales tax and paying it. It seems like a lot of work and I cannot fault Bountiful Baby for trying to figure out a solution, just not sure it will work for me right now. I have my hands full with so many things. That said, if I want to paint the kit I buy it at full price. I paid full price for my first June Awake 7 months kit and did not regret it at all. I will probably order Good Morning Sunny at full price. I tend to buy kits that I do not really have time to paint and I am trying to curtail that and be really selective in what I buy, so maybe no sales will help me do that! Maybe later if I am offered applying for membership I will be ready.

One issue for me is selling on reborns.com, there is no way to add sales tax and require immediate payment. If I did not require immediate payment then I would have a lot of dolls sold, but no payment received.
