I like them that way. Look at the mirror at your arms - they don’t protrude from the shoulders. Same with this sculptures - body provides shoulder area and arms goes naturally down.
The most hideous arms with ‘attached shoulders’ I experienced were Elliot/ Michell/ someone else by Michelle Fagan wo share those limbs. You can even hide those ‘bumps’ with sleeves.
Some Realborns has weird arm-shoulder area also, IMO.
I can live with it as they do seem to look okay when dressed (I have Laurie too) but I do wish the arms were fuller at the top. Too skinny IMO.
Hmmm I definitely see what you’re saying! Thanks for pointing this out. Face is really cute so I’m still considering
I thought the same thing with Laurie too, I even took pictures too and was told it’s intentional and for a certain style of doll.
I’m still curious about it. When I actually paint her I’ll take more pictures because yes sometimes we see a dip between the shoulder and the cloth body which isn’t great either, but clothes fix that right up.
Maybe this new style of arms is more cuddly and the sculpted shoulder style is more for display
I’ve found that very sculpted shoulders, like on BB Michelle, stick out too far from the body and don’t look natural even when dressed.
I love his face, (Alessandro’s) I’m not so against how the arm is sculpted at the shoulder after reading all the comments about how it might be a benefit, I just would rather see limbs that are a little chubbier.
Laurie’s shoulders were so natural to me. Any position you put them in looked great, and she was one of the easiest to hold sculpts I’ve ever done- so cuddly without that bulky shoulder area. I think I like it better this way.
YES this! Precisely how I feel too.
While we are talking about these Brace/Love kits…does anyone besides me feel like you fight the orange undertone of this vinyl the whole time painting? I have my Laurie’s skin tones painted now and will be moving on to hair but I still feel like she looks a tad orange even after having done multiple blue washes while painting her.
I prefer a less pronounced shoulder as I feel the body tends to be shoulder enough for a newborn in most cases. I think it may also depend on how an artist chooses to stuff their doll bodies as well. JMO and preference and of course - everyone has their own taste…BUT yes as mentioned by @PHehn some of Cassie Brace kits could use a bit more ‘meat’ on their bones… haha!
I think your Laurie looks beautiful, from how the color is coming across on my screen.
thank you! That is not the best photo but I do really struggle with the yellow/orange tones of the vinyl. I wish we could go back to the neutral vinyls. It seems to me since covid everyone’s vinyl color changed.
She doesn’t look orange-y on my phone either!!
Good! Maybe it is just my eyes have been looking at this vinyl too long!
That happens to me about 10 minutes in to looking at my dolls…it drives me crazy and I’ve adjusted my lighting sooo much because of it.
So I did not care for this baby when I got him but I have grown to like him while painting him. I did milia and nail tips after this photo and he is currently cooling off.
He is really cute…love his lips!!!
He’s looking very good!
Thank you ladies!
He looks great girl! I am SO smitten with his sculpt! I wish I had bought 2 or 3 of them♥️
I did, until I began adding layers of White mixed with a little Flesh 08 until the kit is paled down. Then I do my own warming as needed in between mottle layers and other washes, mostly with primary colors and no more flesh layers. Seems flesh layers like to bring the orange back.
