Whats your turn off on a reborn?

Those are some seriously upside down lashes. I think they were rooted in the opposite direction of how they should be. I don’t think this is just caused by wetting them upward. But I could be wrong.

I put acne on my Alexa. After reading all these comments part of me wants to put humongous zits on all my dolls from now on, but the truth is I’m not really crazy about it either. You just gotta try something new sometime :woman_shrugging:t2:

Oh gosh - gaping mouths on sleeping babies - sorry I have seen a silicone baby with a gaping mouth and all I see is my dad in his final days when he was dying from cancer…its something I cannot ‘unsee’

Unpainted creases, gaping mouths (can’t take that at all), pictures that look like it’s a Wake for a baby that passed), alternatives, unshaded nostrils and inner ears. red/blushed noses, pimples (if I were a collector, I would be digging them off lol), dirty creases. I’m very fussy with creases. Unnatural nails ect gel pens. I was a nail tech and pink and white nails don’t belong on a newborn. I don’t care for rooted hair. I appreciate it done well, but prefer painted and prisma. I don’t care for “shortcuts”. Oh and shiny/smooth dolls. They have to be sealed in Genesis matte varnish.

Lashes that go out past the eye (on sleepers) You would be surprised how many of these I see. A hole in the middle of the swirl. Too much facial hair. I like some but not a gorilla. Sitting up photos of a newborn or sleeper. A big giant paci and hat in every single picture so you can’t see the doll.

Also newborns with painted red lips, thick eyebrows and uneven or bad painting.I perfer newborn reborns with painted or bald hair. A newborn does not need hair pass the neck, with the exception of toddlers,my tibby has a nice soft curly afro(he’s the size of 2 or 3 year old)hair.Reborns could be shown without clothes, closeup on face, hands and feet.Pictures should be 3 three dimensional. While the clothes are nice,I prefer to received reborns only in a white onzie and booties.

No eyelashes, no eyebrows, no paint between fingers and toes, dark veins that look like lightning bolts, obviously poor quality hair, French manicures, runny noses.

I agree with everyone else just wanted to add over stuffing to the point the newborn sized doll is stiff as a board. I am all about realism with my dolls so naturally I much prefer them to be floppy like newborn babies are.

Except “They have to be sealed in Genesis matte varnish” the rest looks like I would wrote myself

I hate Genesis matte varnish or any Genesis varnish - hard and grainy feeling :frowning:

I think a reborn without brows or lashes is unfinished.

Bad eyebrows, too orange, too high or too low and has missed the browbone, too narrow, too round, too straight, too dark… Sorry but if your eyebrow game is off, I just can’t.

Hair that stands on end or has obvious plugs.

Slapdash French Mani.

Owies make me feel guilty, yes sometimes they add to the realism, but reminds me of when real babies in my care have scratched themselves and I don’t like it.

I won’t buy a reborn that looks like it could be bruised or burned. Some people go too far with the colorful look. This commonly happens on the feet and hands, I don’t want them too purple or too red.

Dark toned AA reborns with the bottoms of their feet and inside their hands as dark as the rest of their skin.

Children’s faces that look like they’re wearing a lot of makeup.

Super dark creases, lip lined lips, super pluggy rooted eyebrows and eyelashes, and overstuffed bodies that look like Marshmallow Man.

I’m an artist, not collector. But one of my biggest turn offs is bald babies. I see a ton of them among beginner artists, especially on Instagram. I don’t think babies with no hair, no brows, and no lashes can ever look finished. Obviously not all babies are born with thick hair, but almost all have some sort of peach fuzz, especially on the top of the head.
And of course, poor painting in general. Bad creases, gritty paint, pluggy rooting. I really don’t like crazy pink/red blushing on the hands and feet. But everyone needs to learn somehow. I don’t mind seeing badly painted babies when they’re not being sold for $300 or $400.

I need to add one. Freckles on a baby. I’m am the owner of all freckles and I didn’t start getting them until I was about 5 years old. Even then, they come in very gradually throughout your lifetime. For me it’s when I spend any time In The sun.

Yes, freckles are sun damage. Infants don’t have that.

I know freckles are not on a baby but… I think dolls done really well with them are adorable.
There is a freckled red haired Levi that I find Amazing!
I think it also has a customer base. Most dolls do not have freckles so some people have never been able to have a doll that resembles them. (I could be wrong)
