It is glass beading for sure! Not sand but not sure about the polyfil or what
The weight does look like very fine glass beads, probably too fine to not sift through the stocking.
I am not sure these would qualify as glass beads as they almost disappear when squeezed between a thumb and finger. I am mostly upset about the cotton balls and that the item wasn’t what it was described as. The weighting, whatever it was, was coming out into the body. When I asked her, she said yes, they were Bountiful Baby beads. The description listed them that way as well.
It looks identical to what I use. I have recently been using larger beading similar to what BB sells.
It doesn’t really matter to me whether it is very very fine glass beads or sand. The description said Bountiful Baby glass beads. I chose that because I wanted no risk of harmful dust coming out of my doll. I know some people use them, and that’s fine if they are secure. I don’t see a problem with it, but it’s just a personal choice.
It’s going to be difficult to get a refund unless the seller offers as you know have altered the doll and had it for some time
I agree. She changed her story to it being some new kind of polyfil and that she forgot she didn’t put the same glass beads as the description. She said she likes to use cotton balls in her dolls. So, buyer beware, I guess.
Mine never give off dust. I think these are finer than what I use. Someone mentioned the finer beads you get from harbor freight tool companies does give off a dust.
That’s what I am suspicious of.
These look like beads to me. The other is much more of a powdery substance.
I got the doll in the beginning of April, so I could technically open a case. I’m not sure I want to. I definitely want her to know that it’s not ok.
I use the glass beads from Harbor Freight in the limbs only. They do not give off dust, but they will go through a stocking. You could ask her for a partial refund to cover the supplies to re-stuff the doll.
That was my thinking too. I asked her for the partial refund and got no response.
There were other problems with the doll as well, that I have not shared. But just for the sake of you guys knowing what else is going on, there was nothing in place to seal the weighting and stuffing in the arms, legs, and head. There was also a giant stain behind the vinyl because there was red backing behind the nose and it bled. That is all minor to me, because I wouldn’t have known, had I not opened the doll. But this is also good to know, so none of us make those mistakes in the future.
I am asking this just to cover my behind: I don’t specify that beads in the limbs are smaller than beads in the body. I don’t specify size of the beads at all. I just say 'high quality fine glass beads and polyfill fiber in the body. ’
Should I be more specific? I don’t see that anyone specifies size of the beads in their listing also.
I think you are fine with your description. She specifically said “Bountiful Baby glass beads” and “angel silk” polyester from Bountiful Baby. You are not lying, but she seems to have lied or been confused.
Positive! She answered me that, yes, they are cotton balls.
I do the same, I think you are just fine with saying that.
Wow. I don’t know why anyone would want to use cottonballs I’m sure that would be more expensive than polyfil.
Idk! It’s definitely not what I expected! I don’t think I am going to pursue anything. Maybe I should use cotton balls! The limbs didn’t feel bad, except for one of them being totally empty in the hand when I received her.
