I was taking apart my daughter’s keeper Dominic (because she wanted it to weigh less) that I just bought off Etsy in March/April. What is inside of her isn’t at all what is described. She is supposed to have Bountiful Baby glass beads and angel silk. It’s a sand like material inside and filled with regular polyester, and the legs are stuffed with cotton balls! I confronted her and she is swearing to me that they are beads and angel silk. I sent her pics of the two things compared to mine. Should I take it up with Etsy? I’m editing to add that the pictures are her polyfil, vs my angelsilk. The glass beads pictured are mine, with a small thumbprint sized sample of what was in the doll. The seller had stated the doll had Bountiful Baby beads and angel silk polyfil, and I was comparing the two, so I could show her that they were not the things she was stating.
Looks like beads and angel silk to me?
*editing my comment due to now knowing the better materials in the pics were actually yours
I agree they should not have listed it to have angel silk if using poly fil and cotton balls… and not listed as Bountiful Baby beads when it is clearly much smaller.
I agree with Jenni. Thats what it looks like to me as well. Definately not cotton balls unless you didnt take a picture of those. I took a pic of my cotton balls just for reference.
Those are glass beads. Maybe they’re finer than what you use?. IDK what brand the polyfil is but it looks like polyfil to me.
I agree with the other ladies. It’s definitely glass beads. I use very fine glass beading similarly to that as it feels more heavy and typically last longer. Polyfil tends to lose “softness” & shape after a while. It does appear to be polyfil. Can’t be certain if it’s Angel Silk or not however. Also, with you taking the baby apart it may be difficult if you wanted a refund to get one as it considered altering it.
Just curious, why did you take it apart?
I use smaller glass beads in the limbs (just because sell source was out of 3mil ones) and regular polyfil in the limb. It has tendency to clump after you stuff it. I use Angel Silk only in the bodies.
Those are definitely glass beads. There are different degrees of fineness for glass beads, and those are just more fine. The finer ones are used for sandblasting. I kind of like the finer ones because they aren’t as “crunchy” inthe limbs as the bigger beads.
Not sure about the Polyfil, but it looks like Angel silk to me. Regular Polyfil is a little bit more lumpy.
Actually it’s Angel silk mixed in with Polyfil. The Polyfil is in the top and the Angel silk is on the bottom.
It’s the glass beads and angel silk that I use also…from BB
@Tessa You are right, but @Alypants was comparing them as she said ‘I sent her pics of the two things compared to mine.’
I nere unstuffed the doll, but I believe Angel Silk can look like that after it was compressed inside.
Ah gotcha. Well I’m my opinion, her baby wasn’t stuffed with Angel silk. That looks like Polyfil to me. The fibers look different. I only know this because of the rag dolls I used to make. I tried all sorts of Polyfil.
Polyfil isn’t necessarily bad. The premium polyfil is actually quite good.
I use regular poly fil in all limbs with very fine glass beads just like this. I do the core of my babies body with these same glass beads in triple stocking bag and again just regular ole poly fil then until I get to the outside of the baby where you would feel it I use the heavenly soft fil. Tummy back butt…I feel the heavenly soft would eventually pack down to a terribly flat under stuffed baby over time. I do describe this in my listing. I personally do not feel the core poly fill needs to be any thing expensive, just the least expensive they sell.
Sorry, I wasn’t clear. These pics are comparing my glass beads to the sand material. Both are pictured. Also that is my angel silk, vs the polyfil, but the sand and cotton balls I am more upset with. I didn’t picture those. It was chocked full of them
I agree those look like cotton balls
Lol there were about 100 of those!
I took it apart because when I was standing in the sunlight, I picked up the doll and noticed dust coming from it. Also my daughter requested a lighter weight.
Are you sure she didn’t just roll her polyfil up in tiny balls to stuff it in the tiny limb holes? 🤷
The amount of cotton balls in this doll is nearly the same amount as in this bag.
