If I could give zero stars, I would. This lady that has somehow, and I have no idea how, because she’s new to the community of Reborn Dolls, and her work is very amateur to boot, said she is an “original” Reborn Baby Doll maker? This is purely insane. Her ‘work’ is a huge injustice to “REAL” Reborn Dolls and REAL Reborn Artists. Reborn dolls have been around for many years. I’m sorry, but, whoever approved this ‘trademark’ needs to ‘re-evaluate’ because they certainly must’ve not done any research when they ‘approved’ this amatuer’s trademark. HUGE injustice to all of us that do, make and sell QUALITY Reborn Dolls.
Did you guys search and notice that someone else applied to copyright reborn baby doll in 2003 and then abandoned their copyright…On Wednesday, September 17, 2003, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for REBORN BABY DOLLS by J. C. Toys Group, Inc., Miami 33172. The USPTO has given the REBORN BABY DOLLS trademark serial number of 76545932. The current federal status of this trademark filing is ABANDONED-FAILURE TO RESPOND OR LATE RESPONSE. The correspondent listed for REBORN BABY DOLLS is LAWRENCE B. STEINBERG of ADORNO & YOSS, P.A., 700 SOUTH FEDERAL HIGHWAY SUITE 200, BOCA RATON, FL 33432 . The REBORN BABY DOLLS trademark is filed in the category of Toys and Sporting Goods Products . The description provided to the USPTO for REBORN BABY DOLLS is Dolls.
I am guessing that had JC Toys followed through with their copyright ,we would all be out of business. At that time (2003) I was reborning the Berenguer dolls.
Oooh this makes me mad. Unfortunately for her, ALOT of big name artists and likely companies are going to come down on her. I’m sure BB, Irresistables, Tru Borns, etc can prove they were around longer. They use the term too I believe. She really should have thought this through…
The petition is well written. I’ve signed and commented.
She claims that we’re mad just because none of us thought to do it first. That’s ridiculous. We are a community who supports one another and would never intentionally sabotage another artist to try to eliminate the competition. We “brand” our art by the quality of our products and our good reputations, both of which she lacks! Trademarking the phrase was bad enough but reporting legitimate artists’ auctions and listings is asking for the wrath of thousands of educated women from around the globe to join forces against her!
