Signature

I have always required a signature when a baby is delivered…I get insurance on all my dolls…
Do you think it’s worth getting a signature? I wonder if insurance on it is good enough. I use UPS btw.

Personally, when I order something,I hate it when I have to sign for something. If I’m not waiting at the door it’s an unwanted trip to the Post office. I have never sent a baby signature required and never had a problem. I do watch the tracking. There is an option to increase the insurance also.

I ship UPS and insure for full purchase value. Whether or not it would actually do any good should I need to file a claim, I don’t know, though.

I let the customer decide whether or not they want to sign at delivery for dolls under $500 because a lot of people aren’t home to sign or don’t want to deal with signing. If I ship one for over $500 I ask for signature.

The advantages to signature required are: 1. That if the package gets stolen when the customer isn’t home, there’s no proof it was delivered and a claim can be filed. 2. If it gets delivered to the wrong address, which does happen, there’s a way to find out who it was actually delivered to. I usually ask the customer.

Yep, and I require it on my doll deliveries. Sorry but I trust no one these days least of all PP.

Thanks for the input everyone :slightly_smiling_face: I have considered what a pain it is for people to sign or miss it and have to pick it up. Especially if they’re honest…which no one has any way of knowing for sure. I don’t request that returning customers be there to sign. I just sold a doll last night and noticed that ups charges over $5 if you require the customer to sign and it got me thinking  is it worth it anymore lol

I send the majority of my babies to the US and signature isn’t an option unless I use UPS, which I rarely do because it’s so much more. So 99% of my babies have been shipped without signature.

Ever since covid they don’t even get the receiver to sign around here anyway, the delivery driver just does it themselves which defeats the purpose really.

I wondered that before because I had heard they weren’t even bothering. That kinda made me mad because you pay to have it added on.
I put it in the description of the doll at the end (my listing details aren’t too long to read) but I know many don’t bother…yikes. I for one like to read everything, especially on an item costing $$$ :grimacing:

I ship USPS with signature required all the time. I’ve never used anything else to ship my dolls.

Yeah, it seems like not many people read these days. Lots of times you get questions asked and if they would’ve just read your description, their questions would have been answered.

I sort of thought if they weren’t actually getting signatures, they should take the option of a signature off when you’re paying for your package. Or at least have a statement they’re saying that it’ll be the driver signing for it.

Like @jeanhai …I have…for years…required signature on my dolls.

I do let the buyer know that is the only way I will ship and have never had a problem!

I will continue doing it. The worst thing that can happen is the customer feels a little put out if they miss it and have to go pick it up…better than it being stolen or something

Between working night shift and now living in an apartment building with a door code … I hate signature required on delivery. :joy:

I recently bought a doll from a forum member and they required a signature, but the delivery person just left it on our step :woman_shrugging:t2:

My last that I sold on reborns I got no communication or response from my inquiries

I required a signature as stated in my info on reborns. The post office held onto my doll first two weeks before my buyer picked it up. Idk I guess I valued it enough and showed it by requiring such

I hate it when there’s no communication.

They are using COVID as excuse for it. I always ship with signature required, none of them were signed off since COVID.

Covid is becoming such a lame excuse for laziness…:woman_facepalming:

@quiltsabunch i hate that too…I can’t imagine paying $$$ and not even saying anything to the seller…especially when it’s art. I feel like it’s rude that they can’t be bothered to say something.
