Just thought that some may wanna know
Thank you! Ive been checking at least once a week.
Thank you for sharing!
Has anyone used the ultra matte varnish? And if so, do you like it?
When I used the ultra matte by itself, it made my doll completely shiny. Now, I use the ultra matte with cornstarch and water and it works well
Thank you
I use this one and I like it a lot, I did get one batch that was pretty shiny, I added cornstarch and it was perfect, but all the other batches I’ve gotten have all been truly ultra matte. The texture is very smooth and it works well
I have the same one mine is shiny, I did not try it with cornstarch or FGDE though as I still have some STV left.
I use the DecoArt Americana ultra matte varnish with corn starch and really like it, the baby feels really soft, smooth and realistic. The first jar I purchased settled with the “good?” stuff at the bottom, but this second one hasn’t settled at all, maybe the first was really old?
I have some of the Duraclear Ultra Matte Varnish here. My first couple bottles I got at Michaels a couple years ago in the small size were fairly matte and could be used straight from the bottle. This last bottle I ordered off Amazon and got a bigger bottle. It is not matte. Very shiny and so I have to add my melted cornstarch and diatomaceous earth to it. But it does work with that. Overall I have found that this company’s varnish is not consistent on how matte it is but that be due to the recent supply issues.
Thanks everyone. I just ordered a jar. Hopefully I like it as much as the soft touch.
I tried it with cornstarch and it was total shine. I switched to Golden air dry, much better.
Which Golden do you use? I purchased the Golden matte varnish before and it turned out super shiny for me. I’m wondering if yours different then the one I have.
That’s a bummer I use Golden matte also as my first varnish layer, mostly for the UVLS, no matter how much cornstarch I add my Golden is always shiny.
This one, I took a picture of it. I add a touch of cornstarch. I still like Americana soft touch better but right now this is my varnish
That is the Golden I use and I am able to matte it down. What I actually do is mix the 2 varnishes so I get the UVL of the Golden and the permanent varnish attributes of the DuraClear. Then I add corn starch and Diatomaceous earth melted in distilled water to the mix. This has been working well for me.
I will have to look but I think the one I have is different. Thank you for sharing this one. I will try it out.
That is an interesting approach. I’ve read about UVL Golden layer and then Americana soft touch layer, but never though to mix them together.
I have tried deco art ultra matte and it was shiny
That’s what I kept hearing about it. But I’m going to try to matte it down and see if it works. I will be out of soft touch before they start making it again I’m afraid.
I added corn starch to it and used it on my Dryads. It matted it down a bit. I just havent used it on a human reborn yet
