I didn’t get too many dolls when I was a child but one that really stuck with me was my Shirley Temple doll. I loved that doll to pieces. I really want to find another one like her. e303c2e74675ff699844da5d104d7074--curio-cabinets-shirley-temples

I never took home ec. which is where they offered them, so I chose to be a student teacher’s aide for the home ec room one year in middle school and played every day :joy:

Haha that’s awesome! Good plan! I never got to take home ec either which is why I was trying to hunt one down on eBay as a 12 year old :sob::laughing:

I bought my mom an AD doll for Christmas when she started “hinting” that she wanted grand babies from me… I thought it was a beautiful doll (at the time I thought it was really realistic!). My mom was polite when she opened my gift (I thought it was an AMAZING gift) but everyone else was just creeped out or made fun of it.
But I was hooked! And started getting realistic dolls (secretly) for myself ever since. That was 15 years ago! Hahahaha

I love that you got her a life-like doll when she hinted she wanted grandbabies! :joy:

I took home the Baby Think It Over doll every year from 8th-11th grade. I always found a way because I loved it so much! 8th grade was middle school and you had to ask the school’s counselor for permission, so that’s how I was able to that year. 9th grade was HS and we got to do it in Child Development class, so I just made sure I was signed up for that class. 10th grade was a new HS and I wrote for the school newspaper, so I asked the psychology teacher if I could take one home so I could write a newspaper article on it. 11th grade I made sure to take the psychology class so I could do it again. I don’t think I was able to find an excuse to do it in 12th grade, although if I do recall correctly I asked and was told no because I had already done it before.

This video has the commercial in the beginning Those 90's Dolls: Tyco's Mommy's Having A Baby - YouTube

You guys are young…I remember this doll, my older daughters were born in 90 and 92.

I had the original Baby Alive from the 70’s…she was so cool at the time

That really stinks that you lost all of your stuff:(

It was hard at first but it been a few years. We had our stuff storage at my aunts house and later on she went to jail and her Boyfriend got rid of everything and sold our stuff without telling us. We found out one day we drove by and the whole house and garage was empty.

My dad bought me the original Baby Alive in 1978. She was cool. I don’t even recognize the modern Baby Alive compared to the original.

Loved looking at all your childhood dolls. I was never really into dolls, I collected Star Wars figures and loved teddy bears but dolls were never my thing. However, reading through these sparked a memory. When I was 5 my finger was near the hinge of a door when my cousin slammed it. This resulted in a few trips to the hospital, having the nail removed, stitches etc, because I had been so brave I was allowed to choose a toy. This is what I chose, not my photo as I no longer have it. I had fun with this doll though and image loved bathing her

She is amazing, I would have been in heaven with a baby as pretty as she is!

I had all the pieces for the happy family barbies but lost it all when I was 17! I didn’t play with them at that age but wanted to save them cause didn’t stay in stores long for that series

My sister, mom and I were pretty upset and angry for bit but we got over it

My sister had the original my little pony

Mom had the original strawberry shortcake dolls

I had the molly doll and my sister had the Lunette doll from the tv show called the big comfy couch

And we had the big Sesame Street animals and other stuff animals etc and multiple other things like needs

My aunt was angry too that her boyfriend would do that but she couldn’t help cause she wasn’t there I still wrote notes to her though cause I can only image how boring it is there. I like printed pics of her kids and grandkids for her

This is Jessica, my aunt bought her for me when I was about 2 and I adored her because she was soft rather than the usual hard plastic. I dragged her everywhere with me but loved her too much to let her get ragged or dirty! She’a sadly lacking her original outfit and shoes, I keep looking for replacements but they are really expensive and hard to come by.

I bought the happy family stuff for my daughter when she was around 2 or 3. I knew that they wouldn’t be available for long given the way everybody loves to get super precious/offended over biology. I believe the house is still up at my mothers somewhere. She still has the grandparents, Midge, Ryan, and the kids as well as the car and some of the furniture.

One of the dolls that I have the fondest memories of was a baby strawberry shortcake who had breath that smelled of strawberries when you squeezed her around the middle.

This is not a photo of mine, as she is probably up at my mothers house somewhere, but this is her.

I have two sisters and we are all close in age. My mom is a doll lover and I think she enjoyed her love of dolls through us. We all had lots of dolls. My favorite two, which I don’t have photos of, are baby dolls. But I’m sharing some of the other dolls I had.
