Share your childhood doll

I think I remember when that Mommy’s Having a Baby doll came out. I recall there was some controversy surrounding it.

I had her for years, she got ruined when our basement flooded in our old house. It’s so funny that you mentioned that doll because I was eyeing one recently on eBay, I thought it would be fun to display her in my doll studio with some of my other childhood dolls that I still have.

I also remember part of the song from the commercial, “Mommy’s having a baby, new love to share…”

I was only 3-4 when it first came out- I may have to do some digging and try to find the song :two_hearts:. I had thought about buying one on EBay too. Mine got marked up with a pen by another kid and I don’t have her anymore.

I told my husband about the doll and our conversation here and he just bought me one from eBay for Valentine’s Day:) He usually gets me a giant thing of chocolates, but I changed my diet for my health so no chocolate this year. I’m super excited to get this doll again, thanks for mentioning her!

Also, if you find the commercial you should let me know, that would be fun to watch! I can’t remember exactly how old I was when I got her, I was between 5-8 years old.

Oh that’s really exciting! My husband thought it was really cool when i told him about it. My mom had to back me up because he didn’t believe me at first! We found the picture on EBay pretty quickly :slightly_smiling_face:

I will. I know I definitely had her by the time I was 5 since i took her to class, but I was very ahead of most of my peers in knowledge of reproduction :joy:

I was ahead of my peers with that knowledge too, my mom was into home birthimg and she let me look at her books. I loved it, since I loved everything to do with babies:)

I actually used this doll in a 5th grade history project. I dressed her up as a Native American and put the baby in a papoose.

It’s really awesome when parents allow kids to learn all the cool stuff and don’t shy away. I was super thrilled that my parents finally had another baby when I was 7. I felt like a little momma with my baby sister. Of course I got to play with her dolls too. We had a bitty baby by American girl that I have here somewhere. I thought about repainting her but she’s too special.

I agree! I was the oldest growing up, I loved when I had a baby sibling around:) I loved the Bitty Babies too, but never had one. I loved looking at the American Girl magazines:)

Yes, that it would encourage little girls to want to be pregnant.

I can see some people thinking that. The Baby Think It Over dolls in middle and high school only encouraged my love of babies:)

The baby think it over is what made me find Reborns! I was trying to find one on eBay so I could have one all for myself  then on my hunt for a realistic doll I found Reborns!

That’s awesome! I found reborns after seeing an Ashton Drake doll ad, it inspired me to Google life-like dolls.
