I had a few dolls before getting “the one” of Christmas! I remember the first time I saw her at my moms home interior party she was hosting. He name was Melissa! I have searched and searched the internet trying to find one, no such luck. Here is a photo is in in rough shape I had to sew her weight back in her around 4th grade, haha. I let me first niece play with her and she really did a number to her. Any suggestions on what type of body she needs and restorations. I loved her and took her everywhere she was so real to me! My search to find something like her was how I found out about reborns! She is so dirty but I just can’t take her apart till I get the right body. @kimomax, oh my gosh! I had a Swingy. I had forgotten until you posted a picture. I was destined to reborn babies because I had so many baby dolls growing up, I cannot remember them all. I could have had my own store…now I sort of do.
If you measure her length you should be able to just buy her a new, 3/4 limb jointed body. I’m guessing she’s 22-23". Maybe 23-24".
I had this Baby First Step and still have it somewhere in my house. It was the first expensive doll that I ever had.
I so wish I could find a photo of my naked baby I carried around when I was small. She was hard plastic, and I think drink and wet. For the life of me I can’t remember what the face looked like, but I remember the hard plastic body .
But, when I was a little older, I collected these trolls, that I LOVED!
In fact I think I might start a troll collection ( these old ones, not the new ones) Just looking at them makes me happy
I wonder if you have any childhood photos with you holding it…
I’m going to ask my mom today, and maybe look through some old photos ( today’s my parents 40th anniversary , so I’m going to visit them this evening)
This is what my first baby doll looked like, but not in my lifetime. A Gerber baby from the Sun Rubber company.
In my lifetime, she always had missing fingers on both hands, cloudy eyes that opened and closed but not at the same time. The point of the hair swoop was never all there, and all her paint was almost faded away.
She was a tag sale find that cost a dime. Gramma glued lashes on, but, baby me removed them.
She had some nice features, dimples on the hands and knees, and chubby feet. The fingers she had left were pretty.
If you pressed on her belly a sound came out of a circle on her back. I guess it was supposed to be a cry. It sounded something like the last dying breath of an asthematic cat being stepped on.
Other children were scared of her, which amused me.
She’s still at my parents’ house somewhere. When I saw her last she was becoming sticky.
There was also a soft rag doll my Mom made out of cloth diapers with yellow yarn braids. Her face got redrawn on a few times.
There were two Kewpie dolls, one from each Gramma. “My twins.”
My first real Barbie was Peaches and Cream. I had one cheapie fashion doll before that. Both were also gifts from Grammas.
Does it list a name or company on the back of her neck?? You can just about find any doll on EBay, even the older ones.
Well I didn’t find out anything about my doll, but I did take a pic of my moms doll she got when she was 5 (1967 on the back). I was always terrified of it when I was growing up because it reminded me of Chucky
Cute face, green zombie arms now. Lol
This thread is reminding me how gimmicky 80’s dolls were.
Mrs Beasley was in The Brady Bunch, wasn’t she?
Mrs. Beasley was in Family Affair. An original in box is currently worth between $350-$650.
Original packaging is important for store bought toys to be valuable…Of course our own are priceless in their well loved state.
Yeah I can see the Chucky resemblance. Isn’t it amazing what children can do with their sweet brain! Wow Chucky,’ s hairdo sure held up through the test of time!
