We would need to see pictures. I haven’t tried to sell any of mine at that price range because I am too impatient and the market is so overcrowded. With patience, you might be able to get that amount. Been a while since I have sold one and I tend to undercharge apparently! I have been unable to make many and the ones I have made have gone to friends at cost or free.
I sell mine anywhere from $150 - $200. I did sell one for $225. I have seen some go a lot higher that I felt were really very very bad. (horrible eyebrows, extreme lashes, dollish looking) but it is whatever the customer wants, I suppose. For me I like making them affordable - I don’t claim to be an expert - I love what I am doing and feel my prices are very fair. So - to answer - it is whatever you feel comfortable with.
I am of the same opinion as pittypat. I am doing this for fun and making people happy. Plus I tend to always feel like I should have done better. Most I have charged was $200 for a full body baby. Most have been $125-150. I get most of my kits on sale from BB on sale.
we are not alone
I have always just sold local (small town) They will sell at $100 but try higher and they just sit there.Have much improved in the 5 years ive done them. Wanted to charge higher this season and they sat until I went back to $100. Guess i will have to advertise and ship if i ever want better prices. I just paint a few new ones each holiday too sell and do paint for myself to keep. Yes i know these dolls are worth much more and i give thumbs up to all who can get those prices. Best of luck.
im with u.lol
Hello all,
I think everyone here knows how new I am with my first doll being made in March. I have been on the Shyann kick here lately but for her I have charged 290.00 and all of them have sold with no problem and everyone seemed to think it was a fair price. My first Toddler (Rowan sold for $400.00) and now my Toddlers are being sold for 900 and up unless it is a BB Toddler, then I will bump the price down a bit.
I must say though that through my FB exposure the road has been quite bumpy. There are plenty of people that are going to complain about our prices and sometimes it is quite discouraging. If I had a dollar for everytime I got a “wow” response to my price quote I would be rich! Keep on keeping on Doll Ladies!
My 8 yr old grand daughter is my advertising agency. She took her apes for show and tell. Told her class “my gramma makes these and sells them for hundreds of dollars but i get mine free” !!Lol gotta love em!
!
Michelle, you should try selling online. It’s a much larger market and you could charge more. If you include shipping add that to the price.
The price you set is a personal thing…Some artists can command higher prices, and some sell lower. That being said, NEVER settle for less than you want for them.
I strongly agree with taylorsgirl. Never sell your self short. I can’t imagine how it is even worth someones time to sell a quality doll, filled with the appropriate materials, dressed in an outfit etc for around $100. That is basically the cost for the doll and the accessories you’ll be sending. I’ve heard to get an average starting point you times your materials by 2. Then price can go up for instance if you hand rooted etc, you have to account for your time. Just my thoughts…
Yes it ends up pretty much nothing for my time. We just got fast internet about 3mos ago so maybe i can actually sell a bit higher now. Was depressing to sell last doll as boo boo for a glue spot, have the buyer go on about how she looked like a real baby unlike others she had that looked dolly. That I did excellent work and would definitely buy from me again, then add "next time you have one $75_$100!! Boo.
I tell people the reason I sell mine for $200 and less is because I don’t figure in my time at all. If I started doing that then it would start feeling like a job. So as long as I am having fun - I will keep my prices where they will sell. I average selling at least one per week - sometimes 2 and during the holidays 3 a week. If a week goes by I start getting down about it and then as soon as I realize how ridiculous that is - one sells. lol I have given away 2 to family members and at least 5 have been in the $75 - $100 range because I knew that was all they could afford.
Then I have had a couple that I would have kept forever before I let them go under $200.
I agree, Simone, I have only sold 5 in MY state, none in my town. I am going to try to do some craft fairs this next year and see how that goes. Also - I have had babies on reborns.com not sell and then I change their clothes and take new pics and they sell that day. You just never know what catches peoples eye.
Yes I have gifted several also.
Been there done that
Beautiful babies!
so lovely
@Toutlaw I too am about where you are in making the babies, though some of mine are Alternatives. I want to start selling them next year. I am thinking at least $300.00 for 19’ open eyes, and a little less for smaller and more for larger. Also adjusting for open box etc…
