It’s a Berenguer play doll. La Newborn, I think.

It’s a Berenguer doll. They are made by JC toys. They make really sweet reborns. I have a couple that I made for my granddaughters. I put mine on a cloth body and weighted them just like a reborn.

Thank you both. She’s asking 20.00 for both. @chatrat I love what you did with him.

Are they hard to take apart?

$20 for both is a great deal. I’d grab it! They’re not too hard to take apart.

They can be a little difficult. I actually cut the vinyl under the arms and legs to get them off easier.

Some people make the front of the body into a belly plate.

These are the two I’ve done. I put cloth bodies on both and cut the bodies to make belly plates. They don’t have a neck flange so you have to improvise. Mine have flanges that BB used to sell but you can also cut the upper body and top of the shoulders to use as a neck flange and make a belly plate with the rest. Or, you can just keep the body and use it. The colors in my pictures are not accurate.

Cute! I’m not sure how you rooted them though…they have really thick heads!

I didn’t think it was hard. I find the harder heads easier to root because the vinyl doesn’t give. Even my softer heads I fill with polypellets to make them harder for the same reason. I don’t heat my heads so it works like a charm for me. I hardly ever break a needle with this method.

Wow! So cute! I don’t think I have the experience to do any of that lol

Omg gorgeous! So jealous

You say that a lot, that you are not good enough. I think your dolls are very well done, in other words, beautiful!

You are so sweet! Thank you! :kissing_heart:

This is how it all started. “Reborn Berenguers.” We used to buy the Berenguer play dolls, strip them, and redo them…that’s where the term “reborn” came from. We created something new from something that was already functional. What we do now doesn’t really fit the “re” prefix. We aren’t redoing anything. We are starting from scratch with blank canvases. I guess now we are borning. But paint that doll and you’ll officially be reborning.

I heat them to about 200 and this makes them soft and easy to pop apart. When I put them back together I heat them again and use the handle of a spoon to push the flanges back into the body.
