I have found an air dry sealer that is truly MATTE!

You are awesome Angie, Thank you so much. And your right, I don’t have the Ultra version. I will be exchanging it thanks to you though. I used the look alive pouncing it thinly with a wedge and I like it so far. On Juliet, I will try the 40-60 mix you suggested. xoxo

Are you thinking of testing the duraclear ultramatte with cornstarch? @anjsmiles Maybe that would be matte with no shine. Or is this 100% satisfactory as far as that goes? If you don’t, I may when I get some time.

I feel it is fine like it is so I would not add any corn starch to it. I just put the eyebrows over my Summer Rain (the leg you saw that I had sealed with the corn starch mix is her) and I sealed the eyebrows with the DuraClear. It left the finish a complete match to what was already there with the cornstarch mix.

@anjsmiles how it the texture? Is it smooth, or a bit like Genesis matte varnish? :grinning:

Nothing like Genesis Matte Varnish. It is smooth for the most part. I can tell it is on there but it is not rough.

I wonder what happens to the corn starch over time. Ho long have you used it?

I have used corn starch in with air dry products at different times over the years to make them more matte. Many years ago a lady who was an artist and her husband was a chemist told me that corn starch was an excellent matting agent to use with air dry paints. Ever since then I have done so when I needed. to. Artists use it a lot with silicone paints as well. I have a silicone baby in my possession that I painted and matted with corn starch on the vinal silicone sealing layer. It has held up fine for several years now. Of course, if you do not want to use it, just get the DuraClear. It needs nothing added to it.

Awesome post, Angie! I have the DuraClear Ultra Matte, Satin, and Soft Touch. The satin is an awesome gloss! I haven’t used the matte or soft touch on a doll yet, but I know @blissfulbabies has.

That is great. I have not had the need to make my dolls more matte for a long time; I have not had a shiny kit for some years now.

Hi!!! Good to see you too!!! :grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:

Here is my class kit after being sealed with the Duraclear Ultra Matte Sealer. It has been 3 days now and still looks good. I did add some extra to spots on fingers and toes the next day after I sealed.

Looks awesome Angie! Thank you for sharing with us  I’ll definitely be picking some of this up to use for my customers who don’t like the feeling of Genesis Matte

Can I apply this product after I have already sealed once with ultra soft and matting powder?
