I’m working on my collection so far I only have babies by other artists and it’s a very small collection. Like some others I’ve had a not so great box opening. I would definitely love to add more babies to my collection soon! I’m also working on learning to paint reborns but it’s proving a challenge and I don’t think I’ll be keeping most of the babies I make with the exception of the first two
I do have some other non-reborn dolls but they’re mostly vintage dolls and I have some strange dolls with weird eyes (I enjoy collecting odd dolls).
I know what you mean about the market dropping out…especially for porcelains…I have been able to pick up some of the same ones that I sold or gave away very cheap since I have been over here…Mostly very selective about what I buy now though…
I bought over 200 reborns between 2007 - 2009 before I started painting them myself…(I went a bit haywire, i know…lol) Have sold off and given away most all of those now as I became a bit more 'conservative" about what I wanted to have in my collection…I still buy from time to time but it is rare these days cause after you start reborning it is a bit harder to remain neutral in what you see in the workmanship. Now I mostly just look for ones that I may want a particular artist work in my collection or the rarity of the sculpt…There are also ones that I love for sentimental reasons and I would never ever part with either…
My swap baby is one that I am looking forward to having the artist work in my collection AND will be sentimental to me as well because of who the artist is, I love the uniqueness of her style, she are one of the loveliest people on this forum AND this is the very first swap I have ever bothered to be a part of so lots of reasons why this is going to be a very special baby for me… …
I’m looking forward to my swap baby, too, even more than I ever looked forward to that next Himstedt showing up at my door! Just knowing that a reborn is being made just for ME ~ well, it warms my heart and that baby will be such a treasure to me for all the years to come. A reborn of my very own!

You just make me feel so much love!! I used to be so much tougher, and not let a soft side come out. I was a tomboy as a child and played with Tonka trucks, Star Wars stuff, and Hot Wheels cars. I even had a boys dirt bike. I wasn’t interested in dolls until I started collecting Cabbage Patch Kids when they first came out and nobody could get their hands on them lol. When I was 12 my dad built me a gorgeous dollhouse from one of those kits you can purchase so then I started collecting miniatures. As for doll collections I used to have a porcelain doll collection. I had several Ashton Drake, Hamilton Collection and Danbury Mint dolls. Eventually over the years I sold all of them except 3. After I got married I just didn’t have a place to display them.
I have since had an interest in dolls and have wanted a reborn doll for years. Always wanted one made in memory of my son Branden. We never could afford one. So finally one day about a year and a half ago I decided to embark on the journey myself. Now I can’t seem to get enough kits LOL. And I also have two reborns in my collection. My Christmas swap baby and the first one I ever did. Can’t wait for the Easter swap baby!!

Ahh thank you…That is a Ming Tao Kit by Simon Laurens…It was limited kit but I can’t remember how many were in the edition. I collect monkeys too so had to have him…He was fun to paint…here he is up close and personal…lol
