Help! Is this fixable?

I use ceramcoat for the glazing and, yes, it makes a huge difference. When I take the babies out, the realism of the eyes are usually the first thing people notice. I never heard that on the ones that weren’t glazed.

BB has wispy baby lashes but none specifically for preemies so you have to cut & trim them. Dolls By Sandie, Reborn Supplies Planet, Dolly Lane Reborn Supplies and Secrist Dolls all have preemie and clear thread eyelashes.

Nichole, I’m so sorry this is giving you so much trouble. You will get the hang of it, though. I cursed quite a bit with my first set of eyes quite a but not so much the second time around.

As far as Aleene’s goes, I think some have mentioned that the glaze turns white when wet. What product was on the eyes in the pics above?

Alene’s:-( I knew I should of tried the cermacoat but I could not find it anywhere around here:-( so… I went back to the glaze. Well… At least I got THAT out of my system:unamused:CONGRATS ON YOUR SALE AMY!!! I love your baby! Who are u going to do next? I am doing MEG! Closed eyes!:+1:t3:

LOL! It’s fitting you do a closed-eye next.

Thank you for the congrats! I’m not sure which kit is next but I’ll determine that tomorrow. I do know it’ll be an open-eyed baby; I love how engaging they are.

wahhhhh…so sorry that you have had so much trouble…On the business - is it necessary to glaze the eye…I think it is a matter of personal choice. I have done dolls for a movie last year and also for a child clothing photographer here in oz and the photographer was the pickiest…lol (male too.) I did both glazed and unglazed eyes for his and he was pretty happy both ways…He did not like them over glazed cause he said another lady had done one for him and the child looked like it had a perpetual cold…lol so I do think it is a matter of choice…Also another thing that makes a difference is the quality of eyes you use…Eyeco eyes are beautiful if you are looking for acrylic eyes and are very shiny on their own…here are a couple close ups of some of my dolls withacrylic eyes and no glaze on them

then there are glass eyes…here is an example of glass eyes without glaze (first photo and was one I did for the photographer) and one with glaze (second photo)

both look really nice…you can give the allusion of moisture without coating the eye by adding the glaze to the inside rim of the eye, into the corners and on the lids etc…If you want to ‘mute’ the shine or ‘blend’ it so that is goes into a natural stain…leave it wet at the edges and closest to the eye and use your finger to ‘tap’ it on the outer edges away from the main part you want wet…this sort of disperses it so that you don’t have a wet line edge to your glaze and looks natural…if you still want to glaze the whole eye…hope the cremacoat works for you…it is so frustrating but it does get better…BIG HUG!!!

When I said - Eyes with No Glaze on them- I am meaning on the eye itself…definitely glazed around it…lol Just wanted to clarify that…

Nichole, here’s a before and after pic with the Ceramcoat:

I have only glazed one set of eyes so far and got great results with Aleenes. I guess I was just lucky. I think I’ll get some Ceramcoat and let you ladies save me some future hassles, lol.

i use Eyeco eyes. They are amazing. i especially love the flexible ones because they fit in the sockets so well, but I don’t bake with them in. They are very soft. But you should check out Eyeco for color choices. The selection is great.

My that baby has some bad conjunctivitis! LOL. I’m sure you will get it cleared up. I have never used the glaze over the eyes. I have done in the corners and lower lash area to give the wet look and always gotten good respose. Seriously though I am sure you will get the knack of it keep your chin up and hug that hubby for being so understanding. :grinning::wink::+1:

Lolol@amy I didn’t get lashes, so I have to wait. I am not sure if this little thing can withstand another eye lash rooting? I did get her eyes out, and managed to get the gunk out. These eyes were easy to clean, the first pair are not save able. I don’t know why… I did the same crappy job both times! Lololol :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I finally stopped crying. Lololol wine helps:+1:

Hi Nikki…I have been seriously considering that 'Free Home Cooked Meal"…hmmmmmm It almost sounds worth a plane ticket to the USA to me…lol (Just kidding) When I was saying ‘glaze’ around, I was meaning…insert your baby eyes, or not - either way is fine, and just use the small filbert brush with the glaze and glaze in and around the rim of the eye socket, corners and the lids if you like a moist look on the lids and not bother with glazing over the whole eye…If you use nice quality eyes, you may not need the eye itself glazed to look shiny and wet. I suggest to ladies I tutor that they look at real baby photos to get an idea of what a baby eye looks like so that they do not over glaze…Most babies, unless they are sick do not have really ‘wet, runny looking eyes’ anyway so using glaze over the whole eye is not really necessary unless you just like that super wet look or if you have eyes that do not have a nice shiny clear finish to start with. Hope that helps

Just did my first ‘wet eyes’ and had terrible results too! I have ordered ceramcoat now, but see someone is saying she uses satin and I have ordered gloss - is this right?
