Glazing eyes - confused

Try alcohol on a Q-tip to clean the eyes. I used it once to get Aleene’s off the lips.

The rooting was perfect. The glaze messed everything up:-( I had to. Remove her lashes too:/( and NOTHING IS removing That glaze. I even tried Windsor Newton:/(

Maybe someone will be along soon with a better idea.

I was so excited to finish her, but now I have to order new eyes. I’m frustrated and sad:-( it’s scary to try something new especially when it’s the last step. I ruined everything:-(

I KNOW!!! I think I will try polycrilic. What are u guys taking about adding water? And glue?

You’re giving up on the Ceramcoat? I know you had a rough time with it but it gets better as you do it more. My second time went much more smoothly. Also, as a help, I wore magnifiying glasses to help see clearly and also did the work under a bright Ott light. The end result is amazing and worth the work.

You like cermacoat better? Why do you add glue and water!

I only add water and that is to thin it out a bit. I really like the clarity Ceramcoat gives.

Ok! I hope to find it T Walmart. It is water based right? That way… At least I won’t ruin more eyes:flushed::smiley:

I just re-read my reply where I was wondering about just mixing the glue and water together…I should’ve said varnish and water. The second time around I did it just like the tutorial and, because I had done it before, it was a bit easier.

I got mine at JoAnn’s.

You’re welcome, Nichole! Let us know how it goes. I’d practice on your test baby first.

I am not sure if you are wanting the glaze coat to make the eyes watery looking or just nice and shiny…if you are just looking to make the eyes nice and shiny. coat the eye before inserting them. just do the drop over the whole eye and let then dry well and then pop them in…no mess, no fuss…if you are wanting the wet look with the eye sockets looking moist as well you will have to insert them and then coat like the ladies have described above…

That sounds great! Do u have photos of both, to see the difference?

These were glazed before inserting them and I painted around the eye sockets with the glaze where i wanted it prior to putting the eyes in on this one…

This one the eyes were inserted first and the glaze applied while they were in the doll…(this is one of my earlier dolls and I rarely ever do the glaze with the eyes inserted now unless I want a 'teary eyed" look
