I have never had the nerve to put mine out there to be judged. It kinda freaks me out and I sure don’t wanna hear the gossip about it. LMBO! I am always doing good just to get my stuff done and ready for a show. The added stress of a contest baby might just send me over the edge!
I do wish attendees could enter the contest too. If I were in charge I would open it first to vendors, allowing about a half day for them to sign up. Then I would open it to attendees. That would be a fair way to include everyone.
As for vendors…nobody is forced to enter. So it doesn’t add extra stress unless we sign up for that extra stress. And we don’t lose the opportunity to sell them. They actually get free advertising while on the contest table. Then people take note and ask around, hoping to figure out who created the doll they want. Since most artists have a distinct style, it’s not usually hard to figure it out. And on Sunday when we get to put our dolls on our table to sell, they usually already have figured out what table to go to. So no sale is missed.
You should be in charge It’s as bad as having to be present at the awards dinner to win but then having to pay money for a ticket to go to the awards show and what if you can’t afford that and then what if you wanna bring your friend with you or your husband with you or your kids with you when you gotta buy a ticket for them too and then the whole thing is sold out and you enter the baby in the contest but can’t go to the award show but have to be present to win
Contest entry fee should also include the banquet ticket if you have to be present at the banquet to win. For dotwe though, I don’t think you have to attend the banquet to win. And Kansas announces winners on the show floor…no banquet necessary.
You don’t have to be at the dinner to be a winner,
You do at ROSE
Dinner winner
Would that be a winner chicken dinner?
Bingo!
Ooooh that looks so good! Esp dessert!
There is nothing like southern cooking. I’m from Pennsylvania, our daughter lives in Raleigh. The food down there is amazing.
One of these days I want to go down down doooooown south to Louisiana etc that area of the USA seems so rich with culture and history and foods that sound sinful
Well it’s looking like I may not be able to go to Dolls of the World. When I’m not at work or reborning, I’m at my gym where I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and help coach the kids class. Since I’m a coach I have to go to all the competitions (I compete in some as well as coaching the kids!) and there’s possibly one the same weekend so I wouldn’t be able to make the trek
Is anyone feeling a bit stressed about the show yet? I am! I have painted some silicone babies. Then I painted 6 vinyl kits. Now I am in the process of going back painting hair on them all. I have one more left to paint hair on. I still have to go back and glue in magnets on the vinyls, root lashes and assemble all the vinyl and silicone babies. I also want to do some sewing. I bought a bunch of cloth to sew bags with 4 years ago for the next IDTS show that never came about. I still have all that cloth and need to use it. I also have 4 more mini silicone FB babies I would like to paint. Not sure I will have time to get to all of that. I am feelin the pressure!!! eeeek!
I am glad that I still have over 5 months before KDS.
I’m gonna be honest I don’t have anyone done yet I need to get cracking! With starting a new job and getting a new apartment I haven’t had any time to paint. That’s all settling down though so I should be able to get getting now!
Will this be your first “selling” show? I have seen your work in person and they are gorgeous!
Yes my very first time vending!! So you’d think I’d be more on top of it I have a custom I’m finishing and then a silicone touch up then it’s doll show babies! I want to take at least ten!
