I want to go to this but not have a table…can you just show up there as a visitor and get a ticket the day of?

So many people bring a baby to the shows. It’s really fun. You might want to bring a stroller or a baby carrier. They get heavy after hours of carrying them around and you’ll have your hands free for shopping.
Take the amount of money you can afford to spend. Credit cards can be dangerous.

No! This is the best thing to do. Lots of artists bring their own babies. And we all love seeing their work. So please bring one of yours!

That is a great idea!
I did that when I just started to paint in 2019 and brough my blue Avatar baby to the FL show. I’ve got such an overwhelming response to it and met so many people because of that.
Bring your baby to the lobby meet-up area and hang with like-mind people, and you’ll have a blast!

Do it! It’s so much fun! Especially when people ask about them and you can say you made them! And gets a convo going and might make new freiends

It is never in bad taste to bring one of your babies to a doll show. Everyone carry’s them. Just don’t try to sell one unless you are actually a vendor, they don’t allow that. (at least at ROSE).

I’m hoping I’ll be able to go! I’m trying to rally one of my roommates or my mom to go with me so I’m not there alone. Keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t be busy with work because I would love to go to my first doll show and see y’all!

Also, since there’s an awards portion of the event, I’m wondering how the contest will work. Would people enter at the event or is it something that you have to register for beforehand? And is it open to anyone or just certain people?

Unfortunately the contest is only for vendors. I think they did it that way because of the limited space for contest display. Awards will be presented at the dinner on Saturday. 6/24, but it all sold out.
I am looking forward to meet you in person! Table #67, next to @shara, @Katinafleming , @ellakabella , @RosieCait , so you can meet us all in one spot

I think this is so sad! Like vendors don’t have enough on thier plate getting stuff ready for the show and then they can’t even sell thier best baby until after the contest if they wanted too 
cause it’s suppossed to be annoymous they can’t even market themselves.

KS does it differently.
I wasn’t a vendor in KS 2021, I was just attending the show. I participated in the contest and won. Same with @Shara . She wasn’t a vendor in 2021
@quiltsabunch wasn’t a vendor in 2022 in KS, as well as @Peachtree . Both of them won.

If I am remembering correctly, at IDTS it was all anonymous til after the judging.

But being only vendors being able to enter they are having a baby in the contest that they can’t sell till the next day and if someone likes it they don’t know who painted it or if it would be available etc… lost potential sales for vendors. At BB and Kansas ANYONE can enter and yes still anonymous but people who just come to the show and enter might just be showing off their skills. Not necessarily wanting to sell. A vendor is busy prepping for the show and selling… contest is just one more thing to stress about and kinda takes the fun out of it cause your working you can’t really hang out and hear all the gossip about your entry
