Thinking about trying rooting again/mohair sensitivity?

So years ago, I tried rooting heads. My skin does not like mohair. I itched horribly even wearing gloves, and in some areas (sorry for this) I scratched until I bled.

I could hang in there with eyelashes on closed eyes, wearing the gloves, but I still paid for it. Just not as severely. Rooting lashes is pretty quick.

This is also why I can’t own any rooted-hair babies, sadly. ETA: I still have one sweet tiny girl whose eyelashes I had to remove. She still looks very realistic this way.

So anyway, I was thinking of trying rooting one more time, and getting those super-long medical gloves that go past the elbow, and keeping the head way away from my face down in my lap using a pillow.

Has anybody else had this issue with being sensitive to mohair? How do you deal with it?

I dont have sensitivity to mohair, but I do have issues with gardening. I use the gardening sleeves and those have helped a bit. I find that donning PPE with double gloves - one under sleeve, one over sleeve - and a long sleeve shirt work nicely.

But I wonder if theres an alternative option? Or maybe it’s the conditioner/cleaner they use?

Try human hair or acrylic. Acrylic isn’t bad. It’s not as fine as mohair but it’s not as fragile and doesn’t tangle as easily. It’s easy to root, too.

Why push through when it causes so many issues? I’d try an alternative. There’s other options besides mohair.

Allergies? Maybe try a Benadryl before you start.

I can’t do Alpaca. I wore gloves and a mask but still couldn’t handle it. Maybe you could try alpaca and see if that is better for you? Or like Jean said try acrylic hair.
