Your VERY FIRST reborn baby!

You did an awesome job on your first baby! Rooted hair and brows too! I am impressed! You will improve with each baby you paint. Honey was one of my first babies!

My very first baby, Kate! Lol! I still have her to see if I am progressing! ;0)

Thanks! Lol! I tried it the other way first and the limbs seemed backwards so I switched it. I am having a hard time with the strings I think I’ll have to get zip ties.

Thanks so much! The brows are a total mess, I’m not quite sure how to get those right but I’ll keep practicing. I am working on Jesse now, I definitely can see differences already in how I am painting.

Yeah, string ties are not that nice. I like using them to get the weight I want, so I can keep taking a bit of stuffing out or putting it back until I’m satisfied with how the doll feels. Then I replace with zip ties.
I once took a doll with string ties outside. I had to keep adjusting the head, it kept almost falling off. I didn’t want to scare random neighbors with a decapitated baby. :joy:

I like " barely there" eyebrows so I don’t root the, I just lightly paint them instead. Definitely use zip ties that you can order from BB and other reborn suppliers. I prefer the ones with the metal locking tab. Some ladies might tell you to go to The Dollar Tree, but the ones they carry are much thicker and all plastic.

Anxious to see Jesse,

Hahaha! :joy:

thank you for the zip tie tip, I will definitely order them from BB for Jesse. With Honey I just used everything that came with the beginners kit. As i go I will learn the correct materials to use, all of you nice forum members are so helpful!

Very nice first baby. I personally think the BB bodies look and fit better when they’re put on backwards. The arm and leg caps are set too far back and make it look like the chest is thrust forward. The neck openings are way too big and bunch up around the neck and look unrealistic IMO. Your brows aren’t a total mess. They just need to be sealed flat.

THANK YOU! yes the limbs seemed strangely awkward when I used it the other way around. So weird! what would I use to seal the brows flat?

Any kind of matte gel should work. I use Americana Soft Touch Varnish (lavender label). Just a tiny bit with a brush. You have to kind of keep smoothing it down until it stays there. I also seal my dolls with the soft touch varnish.

Thanks so much!

Meg was my first. I never put her together because I didn’t want to waste the materials on a not so great doll

Is the one on the left a Berenguer? He’s too cute. I’d love t get my hands on one of those. They’re both adorable.
