Why did this happen, was it the polyfil?

I had been working on this older color lulu kit. Her neck was craving in. I stuffed her head with polyfil to pop the neck back out. I put her in the nuwave oven last night. 275, 10 min.i usually do 9 to 10 min. I, then went to bed. Ive done 10 min plenty of times on other kits with no problem. The head was not stuffed tight. I just stuffed it enough for the neck to pop back out to it’s regular size/form. This morning I went into the room n took the top off of the oven, this is what I found. Did the polyfil expand n cause the head to split open?

Wow how disappointing. I too have baked for 10 minutes plenty of times with no issues. I’m thinking there must have been a flaw or a weak spot and once it was warm it just kept on tearing. The polyfil on it’s own wouldn’t have enough pressure to do that.

Oh, no! I use polyfil to line my roasting pan that I bake in and it has never expanded. Could it be that the viny was older and dried out? I always worry about older vinyl holding its integrity.

The other night when I was pouncing the limbs, I thought this vinyl is really soft n flexible. It’s softer than the vinyl of the kits now. I can’t remember it it was the first time I did 10 min on this kit. But I know I always did 275.

Thank you. I wasn’t even upset. I figured it was something I did. At least I have another lulu kit in the newer vinyl.

Oh no! What a horrible thing to walk in and see!

Yikes. All I can think of is that maybe due to the polyfill the pressure caused by the heat couldn’t escape and it exploded.

Oh my goodness! I don’t have a clue but I really hate that happened. :frowning:

So sorry this happened to you !
What deedee2413 said, maybe the heat increased inside the head due to the polyfil.

Oh no!!! I have a Sienna kit that was crackin around the neck and inside of the arms. I think is that old vinyl. Mine didn’t clack that bad but it has a lot of little cracks inside the arms, where they connect to the body so they are not noticable.

Oh my! How upsetting! I have stuffed a couple of my babies very tight with poly fill and never had a problem. I don’t go above 271 but I cannot believe that would make that much difference. I am dumbfounded
