Who here sews?

This is not strictly doll related but somewhat. I just got a new Babylock serger yesterday. I have been working so much I have not had time to really get into it. Just opened the box is all. I am busy this weekend too so might be a few days before I can sit down and try it. I want to make more doll items and also things for my grand girls. I want to spend more of my time being crafty in my golden years! I may be facing surgery for nerve entrapment and will not know for a while. My nerve conduction test is not until August 1. However, I am looking forward to getting on with my life.

I hope that you get relief from your nerve entrapment. That sounds absolutely awful.

Work irritates it. Being on the computer a lot. When I am not doing that it is better. Painting babies for the show got it really fired up too. I have not painted any babies since May.

Hope you get the relief you need.

I love to sew! Made lots of dresses, etc for my Himstedt dolls.

I would love to have a serger!!! So cool!!!

I spent the whole afternoon into evening on it trying to learn how it works. I finally got it figured out but then the next day my back was locked up because like a Ninny I spent too much time bent over it. With my herniated disc I am not supposed to sit for long periods of time like that. I get intense with things though and forget to get up and move/stretch. So I have been in pain for 2 days now. UGH. Going to change up the height of where it sits and my chair too so I am not bending forward as much. Anyways, here is the short video of the hat I made as my first little test piece.

Yay I’m happy for you Angie. Not about your back, that sucks. I know what you mean about getting intense with it. That happens to me so often when I’m starting out with something new.

Thank you!
Yea, I have had to force myself not to go back in there and sew so the inflammation can settle down.

I hate that for you Angie. I hope the Dr. can figure it out for you.

we already know I have disc bulging in L5/S1 and somewhat in the 2 discs above it. I had surgery (discectomy) on the L5/S1 in 2013 but then it herniated again in 2017. So when I do things that cause the disc swelling to get worse then my sciatic pain gets worse and my back “goes out.” I work for chiropractor who works on me regularly and he actually paid for me to go next door to a massage therapist for a deep tissue massage on Saturday after we worked because he knew I was in so much pain. I wore my tens unit all day Monday and today was off work so been active but not stressing it. I am doing better it just takes time for the swelling to resolve and the discomfort as well. I have another appointment on Friday for another deep tissue massage since all this causes muscles to contract and knot up in my SI joint area and buttocks. Overall I am doing better though.

Thanks! I have a good bit of this cloth. I want to make some cute things from it.
