Hi guys, I am very unfamiliar with the store ■■■■ blick I don’t think they have one near me so I’m shopping online… I feel like my paint brushes I have are not firm or stiff enough to spread paint properly. What brushes do you guys order? Do you order from ■■■■ blick or where? And how firm do you guys get your brushes? I know I can search this topic but can’t seem to find my exact answer and I’m trying to process an order today
My favorite brushes are a set I got at Michael’s. They’re Artist Loft brand (which I think is the Michael’s store brand) and have white bristles. My favorites are the flat brushes. They have fairly firm, but not too stiff, bristles. I love the white bristles because they get stained with the paint, so I always know which brush I use with which color. They hold up really well and don’t shed bristles at all. Here’s a link to the set I have.
I buy the most inexpensive brushes at my craft warehouse store, 25 brushes for $5 is a great deal for me. I also like to go to the local ceramic shop and buy their brushes because the bristles hardly ever come out–which is great for painting because you don’t have to constantly take off bristles and hairs and such.
I don’t buy this exact set and this amount because it’s way too much for me to spend right now, but for 120 brushes honestly that’s a great deal for the awesome quality you get.
Every reborn artist needs a few oval mop brushes imo - you can find them in several sizes at most reborn supply stores online Maxine’s mop, Lunar mop, and Baby Strokes are all great brushes!
I also buy several brushes from Michael’s. Nail art brushes are great for hair and details!
I love my Black Gold by Dynasty script liners- especially the 20/0. I do not think that the store you mentioned carries them, but if you Google I am sure you will find an online retailer.
Forgot to say that my favorite mop/blending brushes aren’t paintbrushes but are cosmetic brushes. I get them at the dollar tree. I think they’re either e.l.f. brand or wet n wild. They have white handles and pink and white bristles. They last really well, come in a variety of sizes for $1 each, and are the perfect combination of stiff and “moppy”. If I was at home I’d take a picture but I’m out of town for the weekend!
I have a Dollar tree close I will take a look. Thanks
I am gonna look them up. Thanks alot
I will look for all the brushes u mentioned thanks alot. Do you buy the brushes In the pack from Michael’s?
I have bought some with the rubber finger grip (I can’t remember the name I’ve bought both clear & baby blue brushes in the pack) and they’re good brushes. I mostly buy them single though. I get the most use out of my small filbert & mop brushes. I love the filberts for dragging paint in creases. I use my detail brushes (spotter, angular shader both size 00 or 0) and my big 1 inch mop (Artist Loft from Michael’s). I have bought a brush from DickBlick; it’s a good brush but, I like being able to see my brushes before I buy them when possible…
I agree. I also like to see my brushes in person I think I’ll wait thanks for the detailed information
These are my most used brushes:
Several of these were bought at Michael’s
I use this makeup brush for my washes:
I do the same thing when I do washes. It’s gets it on fast. Then I pounce the heck out of it.
I use a fan brush for my washes. It lays down a thinner layer of paint so there is less pouncing needed and less pooling in the creases.
