What's one odd thing you use that's not in a typical reborn supply list?

I love this suggestion. I have a bunch of these from a surgery last year. I’ll use those!

He looks so peaceful :revolving_hearts:

I purchased the eye tool and wax from hunny buns. It is used to insert the eyes from the back. I think mainly it helps to keep the eye in there while you situate it and it does not fall around. I have only used it once, but it is easier to me than getting the head squished down to where I can get to the back of the eyes.

YES! I have those also. I couldn’t remember the name of them to send a pic. Thanks! Also, Melissa George used an instrument that was a small stick-lick with a very small, tapered end on it. A little different from all the other things I have. I purchased those, as well, but if I remember correctly, I ordered them from China. It was shipped on a slow boat from China and took a long time to get them. One of the other doll shops I believe has them, but they were a lot more pricey.

The beauty blenders I ordered are the same ones Shara, I believe, told us about.

How exactly does that eye tool work, @Jacelyn5440? I got one a long time ago and never could figure out what to do with it. Lol

I couldn’t figure how to use it either and there were no instructions.

Glad I wasn’t the only one.

Yeah it made me feel dumb, but it might as well have been a prank gizmo.

I also got one and felt so stupid because I had no idea what to do with

When I got this thing, there were no instructions. After wasting a bunch of time messing with this thing, “hmmm, must be self-explanatory” turned into “Am I a moron or something?”:rofl::rofl:

Thank you all for chiming in.

I use puppy pads too! My grandmother was sick in 2010 and when she passed I 1st started using her remaining bed beds and they were so expensive I switched to puppy pads!

Exactly how I used it was I looked up info on it – don’t remember the site – anyway, I put the wax into the back of the eye – the picture I saw showed it kinda mounded up, and then the eye tool is inserted into the wax with the prong side. (there are 2 sides – one is a loop thingy and the other is a single prong – the loop thingy did NOT work, so I switched it around) and then I put it into the head and into the socket after it had been cut partially open. After it was in there, I was able to remove the tool and use my hands to position the eyes. Is this the correct way to use it? I have no earthly idea… it is just how I used it. Would be nice if @anjsmiles or someone with lots more knowledge would come along and chime in… but for now… that is how I used it.

ETA: This was on Still Moments Nursery page – she sells the tool also:

This tool helps when inserting your doll eyes.

The eye simply sits on the stike and helps keep it in place when inserting into the socket.
Shank can be bent to the proper angle for insertion.

I am sorry I have no clue what tool you are talking about! LOL!

LOL. It is sold I know on Hunnybuns and on Stillmomentsnursery. I just know how I used it.

ETA: I tried to copy and paste a pic of it but it would not allow me to copy.

Is this the eye tool that you have or is it something else?

That’s the one I have with no idea how to use it.

This is the tool I used to insert eyes for porcelain dolls that I used to make many years ago. They were made to insert the full round eyes that had the stem on the back of the eye. The prong that sticks up was used to place in the open stem of the eye to hold it in place on the tool. Although this worked well with porcelain dolls I found it did not work well with reborn dolls.

That is it. Without the wax, I don’t think I could use it, either.

That is good info to know.
