Could anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced camera for reborn photo shoots? I’ve been using my cell phone and the photos are OK, I just want to take it up a notch. Thanks in advance💕
TBH the camera doesn’t really matter too much. What makes the most difference is lighting! Even a good camera takes bad pictures if the light’s bad and you don’t know how to use it. I use a Canon EOS T6 with an 18/55 lens. Lighting really is the thing that changes it from a good picture to a bad picture. I use 1 photo light w/umbrella and a reflector. I’ll show you 2 pics, both taken by me in the same place with the same camera. Only difference is lighting and knowing how to use the camera better

WOW!!! Big difference, for sure!
I have 4 cameras…LOL…I’ve been reborning 17 yrs and sort of kept upgrading till I finally realized photography is ummmm…not my thing and the part of reborning that I struggle with the most.
@kareninflorida IMO your photography is great (but I already told you that before). Your close-ups are always so clear and you poses always so natural. I wish I can do the same.
If you were closer I would teach you lol It’s not complicated once you “get” it but it can be tricky sometimes. I should try and track down some of my first reborn photography to show you how bad it was That first pic was already 2 years into reborning and it was bad then, but it was way worse before lol
That’s a huge difference! Thank you for the information. I’ll try lighting first!
I agree with lighting. I was resigned that my cell as good a camera as it has on it just was not going to ever take decent baby pics. Even on pro mode, adjusting everything, white balance etc. I could not get them to look good. Then I was doing my formal photo shoot up in my studio with my fancy camera. No lights on, just the natural sunlight in the room. I decided to snap a few with my cellphone and I couldn’t believe how beautiful they looked. Before, I was always downstairs in the middle of the house with light bulbs and some sunlight.
Oh my gosh, that is so kind of you, thank you
@PutABonnetOnIt Taunya, WOW!!! Love those pics!
thank you!
Wow!!! Beautiful photos. Did you also use an umbrella light and reflector to get such great images? I’d like to be able to take good photos without having to rely on natural sunlight all of the time.
Thank you , I was seriously surprised my phone could even do this lol. I do have them, and I use them when I shoot real babies because I need the extra light to keep my shutter speed up. Since babies move around. I do not use flash either. But I only use natural light for my reborns since they won’t move around I can keep a lower shutter speed as long as I stay very still myself. This way I get even better photos than I do with the umbrella lights. Nothing beats natural light.
I’m no photographer and can’t offer any real tips but I thought these came out nice with my phone. I used 2 ott lights and a free app called snapseed to brighten up and add blur around perimeter Taken with iPhone 7
@YelenaRey your photography is very good, dont put yourself down. And the little stories you create with your photo sessions are extra special😊
Thank you @Ruth, I love that part of reborning also, even if it takes me several hours to sort through and pick the pictures that I like. After that I see all imperfections of the poses or clothing, but too lazy/ busy to retake them again. And unfortunately my camera is not good for close-ups. Probably need to learn about light, shutter speed and all other sophisticated things that @PutABonnetOnIt is talking about. Right now I just ‘point and shoot’
