What should I use instead of Genesis Matte Varnish?

I’m sure this has been asked and answered but I don’t see it anywhere. What matte varnish should I use in place of Genesis? Also…what kind of medium should I use to seal the kit before I begin to paint so the paint will bond to the vinyl?

Thank you!

I’m also out of matte varnish, I’m using AR shine remover as a final layer over my GHSP satin varnish. I also sometimes use soft touch with cornstarch, and golden matte varnish. I don’t ever use a medium to prime prior to painting, you don’t need a primer. But I know some people will use a thin varnish layer before painting, or another primer if that’s how they prefer to paint.

Welcome back!

This is the question of the day.

I made a video with what I had on hand at the time, I will link it here. You can use air dry varnish over genesis heat set. I would test it, let it cure just to make sure everything is cool.

Thank you for doing this! I just watched and have a few options on hand. Kind of nervous to use anything but Genesis matte/satin mix but I’ve got test parts and will make very sure of my choice before I put it on a baby. Good info, thanks for your help!

Dolls by Sandie still has it in stock for $4.99 I purchased 6 jars last week. But yeah it says discontinued so you have to buy it before they run out.

Good!! I’m hoping I bought enough to last me until GHSP matte is back in stock

Thanks, Gina! I found a couple of the good ones:

These are a rare find and so awesome. I bought two and I would totally hoard them all but we need lots of beautiful babies out there so leaving some for my friends. Thank you.

Which did you order and from which one?? The last supplier says “on back order”, so wondering.
