Weight

I want to make my baby feel like a 7lb11oz baby. How much should I make it weight?

I am watching I am curious too. I just weighted a baby just a tad over 5 lbs. my mom picked it up and said “ I know you didn’t weigh this much when you were born. She couldn’t believe it was only that weight because I was 7 lbs 7 ozs. Now I am 47 so her memory just might be a bit foggy after that many years lol.

I weight mine 2 lbs less than the actual baby would weigh unless it’s a preemie or micro preemie. So 7 lbs, 11 ounces I’d weight about 5 1/2 pounds. Weight feels heavier than it is as you get older because your muscles aren’t as strong. My neighbor was holding one of my 4 lb babies and thought she was really heavy.

I know real babies start weighing more the longer you carry them around. LOL

So do reborns. That’s why I don’t take one every time I go out. It’s exactly like hauling a real baby around.

Depends on sculpt and personal preference … I like a baby that feels a real weight for the age…

I have heard that you make them half as heavy as you want them to feel, but I’m a newbie so I would go with the advice of those more experienced.

Thanks ladies, I think I will try the less 2lbs . I think 1/2 is to light because it would be 3lb 10oz Thanks for your help

Half as heavy is the weight I try for. Read somewhere that “dead” weight is 2 xs as heavy. Also think they cuddle better if not over stuffed.

Also, the dead weight of a reborn is not the same as the weight of a live baby.

Yes. I have had all that I want, with 3 kids and 4 grand kids. But, I do carry one when my grand daughter will be with us and she wants me to bring one.

The majority of my 20" Realborn babies weigh about 6 1/2 lbs because I weight them all similarly with the glass beads. There is only so much glass beads you can fill the limbs. You can put more weight in the torso, but adding too much can put a strain on the cloth body.
