Using your reborn photo?

How do you feel about someone using your reborn photo as their profile picture without your permission and not giving the credit to the artist? So she wasn’t trying to sell it, she said she admired my work but I asked her to remove it because she didn’t get my permission and didn’t give credit. She basically said it wasn’t stealing because I put it out on the internet and that’s what happens. She ended up removing it and told me she didn’t like my attitude over the whole deal so I blocked her. Just frustrating!

Ive seen my pictures used in other peoples auctions and have asked them to remove them as it is not their work.

I have also seen my pix in some peoples random posts and even on pinterest…that does not bother me…i consider it free advertizing!!! :wink:

You’re right, it’s stealing. But unless you message everyone that use them or that you watermark all of them, there’s not so much you can do.
There’s no morality anymore in this world.

It’s nice that she admires your work but, to me, using someone else’s photos is deceptive at best. It always makes me wonder why they don’t use their own. Maybe she used it just because she thinks it’s cute and didn’t even think about getting permission.

People seem to think if it is on the internet it is free use. :pleading_face: I had to stop offering online galleries to photography clients because they screenshot their preview images and never purchased anything. It was very frustrating. The only thing you can do is add a watermark so the photo links back to your name and call it marketing :pleading_face: I don’t think there is a way to stop them so you need to spin it so it works for you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I see your point of view, that’s definitely another way to look at at it. One of the issues is that she didn’t get permission and then she wanted to argue about it. She also cropped my watermark out.

Everything you said…100%!

Very deceptive! She said it reminded her of her grandson, then put a picture of your grandson up…don’t use my art work picture! If my watermark wasn’t cropped out of it, I think I would’ve let it slide. I did ask her nicely to remove it initially.

Oh goodness! Yeah that’s not right.

I agree, but she cropped the watermark out. Lesson learned….I’ll put my watermarks in better places! Thank you!

Aren’t those screenshots a form of stealing? :astonished:

Yes but who’s going to arrest them? People seem to think exactly what the girl said if it’s on the internet it’s free to use :pleading_face: kinda like doll kits :thinking:

People really don’t realize they could be hurting someone. I actually had a previous client taking photos from my Facebook page of client sneak peaks and edited them in picmonkey or something and use them to promote her own “artwork” as a photo editor and saw nothing wrong with it :flushed:

LOL! :joy::rofl::joy: So true!

I had this exact thing happen a few years ago on FB. She doesn’t own the doll, someone else bought it on eBay. She took the pic from either my auction photo or FB page. I never contacted her about it since she wasn’t pretending to sell it. I wonder if it is the same person. If you don’t mind, can you share who it was?

I think I will start doing that!

Thanks for sharing the name. Different person from the one using my photo. I suppose it may happen more than we know.
