Using Aileen's on joints to make them movable?

I saw a very old post at some point saying that instead of rings, people use Aileen’s paper glaze or something similar, and then the limbs and neck are easily movable.

Does this mean just painting the glaze in the part of the flange that dents in? (Don’t know how else to describe that.) And then even with zip ties tight, the limbs will move?

Thanks for any help. I’m having a heck of a time with these bigger babies. The weight of their limbs seems to make them pop off easily until the zip ties are VERY tight, so tight they’re all but unmovable.

I dont think it would turn if the zip tie was all the way tight. Maybe take some weight out. I’d also use plugs for extra stability.

How big is bigger? Would armature help?

Putting glue (that’s dried, of course) into the grooves can help it turn because it’s a smoother surface compared to the vinyl. But if you tighten them all the way they won’t turn properly. For bigger toddlers, I’ve used jointed bodies for full limbs. That way they can be tightened all the way and still move.

I use caps but put Aileens around the limbs. I tighten very snugly and the arms and legs move very easily.

I finally tried this trick and it’s amazing, it works perfectly.
