Update Front Page on Reborns

Here’s the whole conversation so far if anyone is interested and can’t see it themselves.

You deserve a trophy for posting all of this, @quiltsabunch. :joy: Thank you.

It sounds like he’s really having a hard time getting these email costs under control. I’m not a paid member so I can’t respond, but maybe someone could let him know about AWS SES. He should be able to get his current volume of emails out for around $1.50 per day.

Thanks…. Hopefully he will get it sorted out and we will be okay with the change…

There are so many updates there in the past couple years, I can’t keep up :woman_facepalming:t3:

That’s always the hope every time there’s a change. It’s always hard.

I get his point that things are going straight to spam. (due to being unopened by the receiver which I am totally guilty of)

I would be mad if my sale notifications went there too. :upside_down_face:

If this is true…he should switch…he would end up making money on those emails!!!

I’ve never had a problem with getting the emails from those whom I follow. But my husband controls our mail server so that not much goes into the spam folder unless I manually tell it to. I just can’t see how his new idea is going to make things better.

Ugh this is so frustrating to me. I completely agree with Cassie Kemps input. I’m not initially targeting the email topic but It’s already so hard to sell dolls as it is, constantly updating the page will be confusing for both sellers and potential buyers.

I had help from my Hubby to renew my Membership last month just to list my Gracie Mae. Memberships now expired and she’s still awaiting a home, (trying to avoid lowering her price as she’s well worth her original listed price though now lowered in hopes of sale) I also used a total of 20 credits to feature and showcase her throughout the duration of the months membership, still nothing.

If sales were more frequent I can understand paying a little more. But with all the people buying those horrible counterfeits nowadays and especially lately, this is not the time to be raising prices even more :sweat_smile:

I don’t appreciate that he’s not open to constructive criticism. Many people are clearly unhappy with his idea and we are the ones paying for it. I feel it’s a little sad to see he’s unwilling to be open minded and instead frustrated by our concerns.

As far as emails, unless you follow various various artists, emails shouldn’t be so overloaded . If it’s getting out of control can’t they just unfollow the artist(s) who list more frequently and manually check back on their page to see new listings? Not a clear cut solution by any means but there’s options without removing the current set up.

I wish he wouldn’t keep changing everything. It used to be so simple and straightforward and now it’s just confusing, which doesn’t help sales. I suspect that, eventually, he’s going to start charging a transaction fee or percentage as well, because other sites do. That will lose the advantage of this one.

I reallyyyy hope he doesn’t. PayPal already takes transaction fees when you make a sale :weary:

I am not liking the site with all the recent changes and I feel like sales and likes have slowed down because of it. We used to be able to feature a doll a day for free now it’s a buck a shot on top of the membership fee! My membership is up soon and I really don’t want to renew but where else can we sell?? Fb and eBay is so bs and only reborns just doesn’t’ seem to be taking off and I am not a fan of the layout of that site either. I feel like Dave has us over a barrel and it is really depressing me. :frowning:

Maybe you guys can let him know that it is now so complicated that other artists are hesitant to join. It seems like there are so many hoops to jump through just to get your dolls seen. I need something easy to navigate if I am even to consider selling.

Me favorite line in that thread was when someone said ‘we need a break from all the updates’.

I think I’m finally had it - done with Reborns. I paid the $30 and ran out of “credits” by posting 3 dolls to email my subscribers. I’m doing a spring cleaning and wanted to list some kits that would show up publicly. Says I was out of credits. I still have 15 more days left. I ended up paying another $10 for credits, and I still won’t have enough. So now I’ve spent $40. OVER IT.

If we were all to just stop buying a membership for a month or two, to show him we are the reason for the site, maybe it would get hiim to listen and consider. Sales are not that great right now, anyway, so boycotting memberships on there for a month or two is not going to be that big of a deal on our end but it would be for him. He seems to no longer respect sellers and without us he has nothing. He needs to have some humble pie. We can complain or we can put it into action to show him we mean business.

Is anyone still selling on ebay?

Also, I seem to recall reborns.com eliminating alternative babies as a site option. Is this still the case? Those are what I primarily sell.

Alts are allowed but only in the alternative section.

In the past couple of years I’ve tried to sell a few dolls on eBay but barely got any views even when using promotion. It’s so flooded with the fake junk now.

I used to exclusively sell on eBay (10 years) and always did well, and then about two years ago sales began to slow. They have changed the way items get views and show up in searches. Highers fees now. It’s a mess.
