Update Front Page on Reborns

When I click on the Buyer Menu filter, only 16 dolls show and all but 4 are already sold. Shouldn’t all the dolls show on the buyer menu?

If you click the customize settings in the upper right corner of the Home page then this box will pop up and you can unclick everything you do not want to see.

I wonder how buyers are going to know to do that.

They aren’t

There are so many filters I feel like I’m missing things. It’s hard to locate the filter that you need, if you can even figure out what that is. It’s a hot mess.

Well, here’s the latest update for those of you who don’t have a paid membership

I just don’t understand why preowned dolls are so important for him. There are many places to sell used goods, but very few for new ones. Its becoming a new “marketplace”. When I go to the store, I want new stuff. If I want used stuff , I go to Value Village. Simple as that. I have never seen a store with a mix of the two. So why is he considering this so important?

I don’t have a problem with pre-owned dolls being sold on the same site as a sub-category. Every now and then I have sold one from my own collection that was made by me for me. So it is essentially like new usually but still pre-owned. I think not having the lower price point along side of the new dolls on the front page is a fair consideration. Also, you never know when someone who is looking at them won’t change their minds and buy a new one. I am interested to see what the changes will turn out looking like.

I do think when it is all said and done, the biggest thing that has hurt our market is #1 China and #2 New artists selling cheap new reborn dolls made from cheaper kits like these sold here on sales. While many of you love the sales that BB runs, I have long felt that the cheap kit sales here has really hurt our market because with it came a whole lot of new artists selling cheaper babies. Sorry but that is how I see it.

Thanks for copying some of the discussion. I’m not on there right now because I’m pretty much sold out at the moment. I like the changes. Preowned on the front page bothered me and wasted space with that ‘featured artist’ section. Is he getting rid of that too? Some people were bashing him on a Facebook thread. Me and a couple of others chimed in on how much we like the changes.

He added more about pricing increase:

The thing is that no one running a site can satisfy everyone. He is trying so hard to do that and no matter what someone is going to be mad. Ultimately if people don’t like the changes they will go and it is anyone’s guess what will be the outcome of that.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. Dave should take suggestions with a grain of salt. Do people constantly ask fb to change things? Or eBay? Amazon? I think if he’d ignore most requests, the site could have continued to be great. But with the influx of people, more of them asking for new stuff all the time. I’ve thought of just going back to using the free option. Also the forum on there drives me nuts lol it’s silly to only be able to see it if you pay.
If there were to be any things implemented, I think a registry of JD numbers could have been useful.

Artists have their reputation on the line. Resellers do not. They can just make up a new nursery under another nursery name if they sell dolls with paint rubs, smelly, dirty, bugs, smoky. Resellers can say they were painted by a particular artist or were a prototype baby even if they were not. They do not have to be held accountable for anything, especially if they can just make up a new free nursery. They can keep or resell the box openings goodies under accessories but still say thats how much they paid for simply the baby alone.
I actually like that I can resell dolls there. Unfortunately I think the lure of a brand new reborn brings you to the site but then you see you can possibly purchase a higher quality doll for cheaper price because its preowned makes people want to choose preowned dolls and maybe dont realize the sellers could be just about anybody.
I have had my dolls ALTERED and resold listing my name as the artist.
Pre owned just opens up a can of worms I dont think Dave was ready for except for the money he was getting with all the new yard sale traffic
I think there is a place for both, but he kind of screwed artists over by making resellers just as important as artists with no kind of punishment for resellers that are dishonest, they can easily make a new nursery and have no worry about their reputation or livliehood
I understand its all about the buyers and making the buyers happy but buyers also need a relatively safe site as well, and brand new buyers may not know all of the hazards of a used baby.

So has anyone here actually been selling on the only reborns sight? I have looked at it but I have not listed there. I don’t hear much about it so I don’t know if it gets much exposure and buyer traffic. Is it more of a situation where you have to self advertise a lot? I would really like to know if it is that viable of an alternative.

I’ve been on it since it first opened and have never gotten a message about a baby, let alone a sale. With that being said, I know she is working really hard to get more exposure. The issue right now is that most potential customers just don’t know about the site unless you direct them there. She did just get into a partnership with truborns, irresistibles and I think Mac’s (I’m not 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure I saw that) where they are sending Onlyreborns stickers and info out with all kit orders. So that’s great for the site, to attract more artist sellers, but a LOT of work still needs to be done to attract buyers. I know she’s said that her hope is that the more artists that sign up, the more we will be directing customers to the site and it will slowly grow. Kind of like now how when people ask where can I buy a reborn and almost every artist says reborns.com, she’s hoping we’ll say onlyreborns.com
She does post a lot on FB, and comment on people’s posts about where to safely buy reborns. I am seeing more people recognize the name, but it’s not reflected in sales or site traffic yet. Like all new sites is going to take a while…

Her site name is a deal breaker for me. When you start typing “onlyreborns” Google automatically assumes “onlyfans.” She chose that name on purpose and even made her logo look like the only fans logo. A lot of us suggested that she change it. But she laughed us off. She changed the logo but kept the name.
Then yesterday Dave accidentally left the s off the end of that site name when he mentioned it on his forum. So several people typed in onlyreborn. com. I’ll let everyone here type that in so they can see the danger for themselves. I also decided to see what would happen if my dyslexic tendencied brain reversed the words. So I typed in rebornsonly. Com. Y’all can try that one yourself too.
When someone posted on Facebook about that typing error people just blamed Dave for purposely typing it wrong. Who cares if it was on purpose or not! Casey needs to own the fact that anyone could accidentally leave the s off and get the same results. No way do I want any responsibility for accidentally leading a grandma or a granddaughter to a damn porn site! But Casey doesn’t seem to be concerned about her site name. :woman_facepalming:t2:

I did get an only reborns flyer in my irresistibles order the other day.

Oh my goodness! I did not go look to see what the error in typing would lead to but your description was enough to warn me! LOL

Trust me! It is NOT something you want a little girl to stumble upon! It’s flat out disgusting! She needs to change her site name ASAP!
But nope. She’s just accusing Dave of starting the porn site.

That is a wild accusation :flushed:
