I want to make the twins from the book Jacob Have Loved written by Katherine Patterson. The dolls will be a raffle for my local library. I have a kit for Caroline picked out but need ideas for a Sara Louise. If you read the book what kit do you suggest and eyes open kit? Thanks!
I have no kit suggestions for you, but you just might be my new favorite person for doing this! Which kit will you use for Caroline? Do you think people will recognize the characters?
well I am in the planning stages and I am rereading the book for inspiration. lol. I was thinking Realborn Aria for Caroline and I was thinking the sleeping version, where in the book Caroline slept through the hurricane, and Louise never wants to miss anything, so I was thinking an awake version of her. She would probably have to be a newborn size where she was the larger twin in the book. Just not sure which kit. I was thinking a content baby but not a real happy one (so not a smiling kit). I don’t know if young people will recognize the book but it may inspire them to read it. If they don’t like the book they can always just try for the reborn doll. I would like to try to dress them in gowns from the 1940’s and cloth diapers ect… I think this will be a fun project! I am excited this was my favorite book in my teen years!
What a great idea. Good luck on the project. Be sure to post pics.
It was one of my favorites too
A couple of years ago I picked up a Katherine Paterson collection with Bridge to Terabithia, The Great Gilly Hopkins, and Jacob have I loved at a used book store for five dollars (I know ‘cause it still has the sticker on the cover) and reread them all. They still make me cry. Jacob may not have magic or monsters or teenage gladiators but any child who has struggled with sibling rivalry or to make a connection with a parent should be able to identify with Louise. I hope your project can help someone discover Paterson’s books! What did you think of the new movie version of Gilly Hopkins? Have you seen it?
Ana awake maybe? Or maybe they will wake Lavender up soon.
I loved that book as a teen, now I need to re-read it:) I don’t have any suggestions, but I can’t wait to see your finished babies!!
I will have to read Gilly Hopkins then watch the movie.
Yes I will post pics, when they re done!
