Tips for working on multiple dolls

Any tips for working on 2 or more kits at once? Its a little overwhelming to me but i have to work on them like that to have them done for a craft sale. Im worried about accidentally mixing up limbs or something.

Your limbs will have markings on them that you can match up to make sure they aren’t mixed up.

You can keep the kits on two separate racks to dry. If you’re super worried about it, you can always paint them with all of the same colors/ layers so that all of the parts look like they could be interchangeable.

Alternately, you can paint them vastly differently so that you can tell from a quick glance which parts go together.

I like to paint an initial on the bottom of each limb so they don’t get mixed up. Aside from that, just paint and let dry and heat as usual, but do it double.

If I paint two I try to choose a big baby and a small baby, or a chunky one and a scrawny one, etc. That way there is no question. Or you can start one so it is way ahead and you can visibly see the difference. Painting more than two would be a bit more of a pain but separate racks would help. Mine has a top and bottom so I keep one kit high and one low if I can’t easily tell them apart.

Kick everybody out of the house. Have food delivered and hire a housekeeper. Then you’ll have no distractions. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Mark the limbs and coordinating heads with a number on the inside of the flange.

Sounds heavenly :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I always work on more than one :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Now if I could finish one I’d be so excited :crazy_face:.

I have peg drying racks on the other side of the room holding all the limbs, they are the long wooden dish racks you can get from Amazon. I think I can get 4 sets on there :thinking:

When is your craft show? Did you say December 10?

That’s my setup as well. A chrome industrial rack with pot hooks to hang the doll parts from. It works really well.

The rack

The hooks

This is my drying set up as well and it works great. I have one shelf spaced for bigger babies to hang and two other shelves for smaller limbs. Top is great for setting my racks or baking trays on, frees up alot of space on my desk. x

Its actually a clothes drying rack…very common in Europe. I just bought some metal hooks and I hang my dolls on it :wink: .
