You need to hold your needle more at an angle against the head instead of rooting straight in. That will help it to lay down and not stick out from the scalp. Is that what you were wanting to achieve?

The hair looks thick. Thicker hair will not lay right. That is why mohair is used. What type of hair are you using?

Human hair
Human hair does not lay right on babies. It works for toddlers but sticks out on the smaller kits.
