Yesterday, I ordered some doll joints so I can start making my bodies. I bought material locally at JoAnn’s. I’ll be using Chelle’s patterns that I bought a year ago.
From BB, I ordered some supplies I was running out then started to look at the kits. I ended up getting Grant. I was torn between Grant and Elliot but Grant won. Even better is that I put in my BB order after 5pm yesterday. Apparently, they’re working hard because my shipping label was printed today (Saturday) and the package has already been picked up by the post office.
Tough choice between the two. I’m thinking of reborning one of the larger babies, just so it is easier to buy clothes. It seems like all of my newborn babies are all in sleepers. I think it would be fun to buy dresses, tights and shoes for the larger babies!
@Meandmydollie, yes, it was a tough choice. I started out with preemies then newborns. The first time I held a larger newborn (Celeste), I realized how snuggly the bigger ones are. I’m starting to be drawn to the larger ones. I didn’t think I’d ever do a toddler but I can now see that in my future.
I agree. But, as luck would have it, my daughter lost the one I made for Celeste! None of the others fit her right due to the placement of the magnet in her head. Back to the pacifier making drawing board!
I love everything about Celeste except that mouth!!! I can’t get past it, I cringe everytime I see it. BB souls make her a twin brother, with mouth shut!!!
I agree with you Piglet. I think Celeste is so cute, I love her limbs and everything else BUT the mouth. I hate that mouth. I have seen some of the ladies do some nice mouths on her But I still can’t swallow it. It’s ugly in my opinion!!
Dolly mail is sooo exciting! I got stuff in the mail today and it’s steadily trickling in from the balack friday and cyber monday sales I attacked. All except my Coastal scents package thats lost somewhere between texas and cali
BB is amazing with their shipping. I ordered Kameko on Thursday and she arrived today. She caught up with other BB packages that I ordered 2 days before her.
Is she hard to paint? I wanted to order her, but I wasn’t sure how I’d do with here mouth, so I put her off for now. AND speaking of fat heads…I got my Sweet Peas and a Holly today and geezus their heads are massive (I’m not liking any of them). I thought Fei Yen’s head was big.
@Blissfulbabies, Celeste has grown on me. I LOVE the limbs and she’s sooo cuddly. Actually, mine is a boy and I think that helps with the looks. @DancesWithDolls, Celeste is a dream to paint and root. The vinyl took the paint nicely and the head, while big, it’s at least soft enough to root easily. For the tongue and inside of mouth, I used the same color as the lips until I was close to the shade I wanted. I added a touch of Titanium White to the mix and did a couple of layers only on the inside of the mouth to differentiate it from the lips. @izzy, how nice to get a package every day!!
I’m interested to see how you go with the making of the bodies. I have the same pattern, had a look at the instructions and um put it away for another day.
EveryBODY spends some dolly dollars now and again…sorry, I couldn’t help myself
That’s cool that you are going to make doll bodies! I hope you have fun doing it and are able to be successful. I thought about trying but I already have enough endeavors at the moment!
