I’m almost out of Americana soft touch. We all know it’s sold out everywhere. So what is everyone using now? Back to Genesis matt rough stuff?
I mix genesis matte varnish with satin varnish and it doesn’t turn out rough.
DuraClear Soft Touch varnish is still available in a few places on the web, or was last week. It works pretty well too.
I am terrified that my Americana will come to the end one day.
I don’t understand if they stopped the production completely or it’s just temporarily shortage due to 'rona and China.
Going back to baking Genesis varnish will be my very last resort. I hate that rough feeling. And despite that everyone is swears by Matte Genesis varnish, I have a doll from another artist that was varnished and vent shiny very quick.
I’ve tried that but it comes out too shiny.
I would assume that it’s NOT High Gloss or Satin that you are talking about, right?
Should it say ‘matte’?
It’s rough comparing to air dry varnish, IMO.
Imuse DecoArt ultramatt varnish, I prefer it anyway.
@YelenaRey it’s not due to the virus, it’s been since two years since I have trouble finding it anywhere. I guess they will discontinue it.
Dura clear has a soft touch also
I havent tried it but Americana ultra matte is available here
(the others say temporarily out of stock)
It’s the same brand. DuraClear, DecoArt and Americana. DecoArt is their “fancier” brand.
I bought it on Amazon about 6 months ago. Honestly I think it is a covid thing and it will be back some day.
Can someone post a picture of a doll sealed with DuraClear or DecoArt please.
It’s a matte version, not pictured.
I am in Canada. It stopped to be sold in store almost everywhere way before Covid, and the one sold on Amazon was crazy expensive.
Maybe they just sold their last stock…
I so wish I would have known. I would have purchased multiple ones.
Thank you so much! I’ll be purchasing this next. I’m relieved to have a back up plan. Your Blessing is adorable, so lifelike.
Oh no I didn’t know😢
Thanks !
The finish is really soft, and it allows to give some texture without being rough.
