I was ready to place an order until I saw shipping charges were $29.00! I haven’t made a baby in a while, and the shipping charges were $14.99. I live in the United States, it’s outrageous!

I haven’t ordered since last summer, but I just now went over and added a real born kit to my cart….shipping was about $12.
Then I took that out and put in 2 of the 1/4 oz mohair and shipping was $7…
Then I took that out and put in 3 bodies and shipping was a little over $8…..
It changed, I’m assuming according to weight and I don’t think the prices were horrible.
I’m guessing maybe you were going to order multiple kits?? Which would be heavier….

I was scrolling my feed earlier and came across this article. I think it’s behind a paywall, but it looks like shipping is increasing again.

They were talking about the price increases. I saw an article with them saying without the increase they wouldnt be able to process the mail next year.

Thanks for your reply. Hi, no I was only ordering one kit, but I just realized I wanted 6 bags of glass beads. That’s what must have happened.
Someone here ordered enough glass bead to reach the $100 mark and I believe shipping was free!!!

I’m in the Netherlands. The flat rate boxes are $70 shipping currently. Add on the import taxes and it’s just not profitable to buy directly from BB anymore.

I just saw this the other day and posted it on the gas prices thread. Lordy the hits just keep coming!
Shipping anything overseas is sooo expensive.
And it has gone up, but not exorbitantly.
Shipping actually hasn’t gone up hugely since 2022. This is what I found for a flat rate large using the cheapest option available which is 6-10 day delivery time.
As far as customs and other fees. EU changed in 2021 and that’s when the extra fees raised a goodly amount.
Don’t trust Ai for such things. If it can’t find information, it makes things up.
BB shipping in 2022 cost me $40. Got the confirmation still in my email. It’s currently $70. That is a huge difference, imo.

That was what I found for flat rate box as stated above. In 2022 according to what ai found the rate was $98-$105 and is still basically the same. That is just price for shipping the box ……not other customs which were listed below that.
It also said that the lower 65-70 price was possible commercial shipping and the higher price would be for individual or retail pricing….whatever that means

Like I said, Ai makes things up when it doesn’t know. You shouldn’t fully rely on it for information. It gets things wrong.

You make an excellent point. It’s also important to remember that AI was trained on humans. We are opinionated and imperfect.
The fact that news media is increasingly reliant on AI is worrisome. It’s hard to know what’s true anymore.

I don’t think it was making up a price it was using the actual public usps site to look it up.

I said before that if you paid $40, it was probably that the company you bought from (BB?) has a corporate business rate and can pass those savings on to customers.
