I’m filling out customs forms to ship to Norway and it’s asking me about EIN or vat number…idk what this means or how to get these numbers. Can someone help?
EIN is employer ID number aka tax ID number. VAT number is a foreign tax ID number similar to US tax ID number. If you take the label and address you’re shipping to to the post office they should be able to help you. If you’re sending a single package you might not need either one. I’ve shipped internationally. I don’t have, and have never needed, either one. I always take mine to the post office for them to review because I don’t want to do it wrong.
Ok. Thank you. Do I need a certificate of origin? It looks like it has to be notarized at the bottom or something like it
I don’t think it needs to be notarized. You have to fill in the country of origin. Who are you shipping through?
Ups
So it has my address and phone #, then the customer’s address and phone #, the contents of the box, country of origin, the total value, a declaration statement that it is true and correct as stated, weight of the box and currency type, my signature and the date…same info x3 sheets of paper.
Is this all the info I need? Sorry if I sound dumb…never shipped outside the US except to Canada a couple times.
When I shipped to South Korea, or UK, or CA I didn’t feel VAT numbers.
But you need to put country of origin. It don’t have to be notarized.
Also if your package value is more than $1,000.00 you need to go to the special UPS location, not just a regular UPS office. so the person who take package from you sings specific papers that UPS received a box.
And of course you need to inform your buyer that they need to pay custom fees.
That sounds right.
Thank you
I’ve got the country of origin on there so that part is good and the doll sold for less than $1k so no need to worry on that end either. Does what I have on my papers look like everything?
Thanks Yelena! I feel much better now! I was so worried
You are welcome!
Add a copy of the invoice. I have a parcel returned (from Australia) because I forgot it.
You mean a duplicate of the same form? Or a PayPal invoice?
Your PayPal invoice
Ok thank you, I’ll make sure to do that!
