Hello everyone! For some reason when ever i paint the twin A and B kits they tend to get super shiney! Any one know what can take away the shine for acrylic paints ? Thanks. I use the matte paints and usually dont have a problem but f oi r some reason this kit is super shiny:0 thanks
I use Liquitex Professional acrylic paints with a small amount of Liquitex Ultra Matte Gel mixed in with the paints. You can also add cornstarch to the final seal. This formula from @anjsmiles works well.
20 drops distilled water
1/4 tsp cornstarch
1 level plastic picnic spoon of Americana Soft Touch Varnish. I’ve also used it with DecoArt DuraClear Ultra Matte. I think it would work with any good sealer.
Dissolve cornstarch in water and mix well. Add sealer and mix well. I apply thinly and pounce with a cosmetic sponge.
What brand of paint did you use if you don’t mind me asking?
I just use the apple barrel matte paint from the craft section of Walmart. Usally that paint is matte enough where i dont need any other matte sealer. But for some reason this kit us getting shiny out of nowhere lol Sometimes i use miracle blend and then sometimes i use art and magic waterborn paints.
For this baby i used the surface prep from hunny buns nursery. Usually her matte vsrnish works well but she recently chanced the formula on it so it doesnt really work as it should seems to leave them shiney
From what I remember Apple Barrel is shiny. But that formula that @jeanhai posted should work. I use it but add a little Food Grade DE to it. I do not sell my dolls only make them for family and friends. Can’t wait to see her after the shine is gone, she has a nice color.
