Shaken Baby

Maybe I’m getting old or maybe I’m just ‘not in touch’ anymore but can someone enlighten me as to what this is? In the description it mentions something about a lock. I have never seen or heard of this thing before.

It is to teach people what happens if ypu get angry and shake your baby. Shows the damage to the brain.

It lights up when you shake it hard enough to cause damage!

It takes a LOT of force.

In my shaken baby class, the instructor said that they are not able to use these in class. It is understandable for someone may sue them because their baby received damage and they didn’t shake nearly as much as with the simulator in class.

incredible

As an ER nurse it does not take a massive amount of force to cause brain damage. Repeated mild bruising can cause an accumulative effect. And there are various symptoms from mild to severe depending on the area of the brain that is damaged.

I’m an ER nurse too. It takes a lot of force to get those babies to light up.

What are the symptoms for someone who has suffered this mild form? Learning disability? Behavioral problems. Just curious.

Concussion syndrome. Headaches. Dizzy. Nausea. Baby will be fussy. Not acting like itself. Vomiting.

Hats off to you ER nurses. I couldn’t do it… namely because of having to see shaken babies and all sorts of similar ugliness. I worked psych, burned out. My buddy went to ER and was gone within a year. He couldn’t handle it either.
