Scammer list

Has there ever been a master scammer list on here? I’m wondering what others thoughts are on this. Reborns.com has removed the “blocking” feature where we can see if a buyer/scammer has been blocked and sellers can leave comments so other sellers can avoid these scammers. Dave is also no longer allowing sellers to warn other sellers of scammers through the forum. He is now allowing buyers and sellers to rate each other, so we should know if a scammer was successful by the seller leaving a comment, but I know there are a lot of times where we catch it before a transaction is complete. In this case, there’s no way to warn other sellers not to sell to the scammer. Hope that all made sense…lol. Anyways, for those of us who sell on reborns.com, it would be nice to have a place we can warn each other of buyers/scammers on there.

He’s getting ridiculous. He needs to leave things alone and stop making changes. :woman_facepalming:t2:

It just seems like he is no longer supporting HIS customers who pay the monthly fee, and is supporting the buyers and scammers coming to the site.

Things change so frequently on that site that I cannot keep up. I feel new policies should be announced in advance with an effective date. I may just go with eBay when I list again.

If not for sellers, Reborns would have no customers. Sellers pay to use the site and list their dolls. It’s a very simple concept that worked fine for years so I’m not quite understanding why all the changes to protect buyers instead of sellers.

Exactly! He has been asked about reviews several times and said no and gave his reasons. I don’t really understand why things are different now…and he just does it instead of announcing a change and telling users in advance that new policies will take effect at a specific time. I don’t care so much about buyers leaving reviews for something I sell, but at the same time I want to be able to block buyers before they buy- does he not get that PayPal keeps money when we refund and cancel?

I do see the other side of this. I recently had a lady contact me through there about my silicone baby Miki I had for sale (sold now). When I looked her up she had a bad feedback something about her being young. I wrote to her and asked if she was an adult and why she had bad feedback. She got very upset and informed me that she had actually met me in person and purchased a Gretal Winters from me locally last year. I did not know her name and did not realize it was her. She was an adult who came with her teenage daughter. I have had several local people contact me through my FB page and I just only see them one time in a parking lot to make a transaction so no good memory of them individually. She got very offended and I had no more contact from her. It could still be that someone else had a bad transaction with her but then again like he said, it could be biased too. My transaction with her went fine and she paid me cash in person. I later was told by someone else she put the doll up for sale about 6 mos out but I remember that she was unsure about the small size of Gretal to begin with. At that point that is her option and some people trade out dolls all the time so it did not bother me. Anyways, I am just saying that sometimes people do get blackballed based on miscommunication and expectations of either party. So he does have a point in some cases.

Yes, I agree but I still think policy and other changes should be announced. Not really this, but all the changes with how dolls are shown on the first page and other issues that reflect what we are getting for our membership fee. I never get an email or anything telling me something has changed and then I go to the website and have to try to figure it out.

I agree with that, too. What I don’t agree with is not being able to warn each other about actual scammers. I’m not too worried about the time wasters, poor communication, etc that doesn’t end up in me losing hundreds of dollars. I think it’s ridiculous that his opinion has changed so drastically, and in favor of the sellers. Where does our protection become important? First no watermarks on pictures, and now we can’t even warn someone about a scammer.

My biggest fear is he’s going to sell the site.
His site is gaining popularity, it’s just a matter of time before he gets an offer

I’m feeling uneasy with all the changes, like seller protection is being downplayed in favor of buyers. Buyers do not pay to use the site, sellers do. A lot of us have promoted the site all over social media as a safe, trusted place to buy reborns ~ we’ve helped the site grow, yet it seems more is being taken from us. I realize he can’t please everyone but it should be a give and take situation, not a dictatorship, but I guess we’re free to take our business elsewhere.

There aren’t too many places to go :disappointed:
Etsy, Ebay, Reborns, that’s it.

Recently someone here mentioned they were going to start their own reborn site. What ever happened to that?

Correct and now there is a feedback system. If you get one or two bad ratings because someone is in a bad mood, it’s not going to be good. Plus I don’t think you can respond back tp the feedbacks. He seems to be for the buyers for sure. I’ll never understand it.

You’re able to leave one reply to the feedback. But I’m sure buyers are just going to look at the rating and if it’s not 5 stars, they’ll just move on to the next seller.

I do not like this change in the least. If I buyer plays games, does chargebacks or other foolishness otherwise, I want to know. I feel like I have dodged bullets multiple times just because of this feature.

That said there are times where artists have jumped the gun and labeled a buyer as a time waster just because they wrote to ask questions. But common sense should prevail here. Through the feedback an artist could discern this and decide to sell to them anyway.

Selling dolls is a risk anyway, but now the risk will increase because we will be selling to known scammers just because we don’t know.

I highly doubt it. He worked on the site for a long time now and is making way too much $$$. He also has no track record of selling the other sites he created.

But if he did for some reason sell this one, maybe we’d get our buyer blocking and explanations back, so it might not be a bad thing.

It is overall discouraging. I don’t think he knows what to do with the growth of his site and how to keep sellers using fake kits off the site. eBay and Etsy are dominated by them- it used to be mostly from China, but now I see artists using counterfeit kits and justifying it in all sorts of ways. Unfortunately, seller ratings won’t help on this too much because frankly just like some sellers do not care, some buyers don’t either. I have really enjoyed this art and have ordered two Sandie kits, but I think that will be the last for me.

No if he sells it to a big company it can get worse…fees…bank info…way worse

I like having a feedback system, it makes buyers feel more comfortable I think

Yes it would until you get one bad feedback it could ruin your reputation and there is so much scamming now.
