Round Glass Eyes

Does anyone know if Amelia Crawler would fit a pair of 24mm round eyes? I know it says 24mm, but the pair I’m going to order are round so I want to know that they’re going to fit before I spend $80 on them😳

I recently ordered from fourth seal studios and I’m super disappointed in the eyes. I personally wouldn’t spend the money, they photograph pretty but aren’t worth the $55 (there’s some of them that are $45 unveined plus shipping). They’re not anything incredibly special unfortunately, they’re basically the same as BB’s acrylic eyes just the iris is a photograph of a real eye instead of how BB’s are. They aren’t hand painted or really anything special. They don’t have very much depth to them. You can find much better on Etsy honestly.

But yes I imagine 24mm round will fit Amelia. Most of the time you can size up 2-4mm.

Luckily my customer loves them, but I won’t be ordering from them again.

I almost ordered these! The ones you have are so pretty but they are expensive. I don’t think I realized they were not glass.

They’re almost flat in person, no depth at all really. Which is super unfortunate but yeah, I wouldn’t recommend ordering them they’re almost the same quality as Bb eyes for 5x the price. I’m contemplating learning to make my own from resin because I’m so over trying to find gorgeous realistic eyes.

I chose the eyes from the studio because I think they resemble my niece’s eyes the most. I’m trying to create a memorial doll and her most adored feature was her big blue eyes. If there’s any other eyes you can recommend, I will take a look and greatly appreciate it.

I have some of the German glass eyes from BB coming next week, I think they might be a good match honestly? I’ll let you know! I wouldn’t want you to be disappointed in eyes for a memorial baby, I know how hard that would be. :two_hearts::two_hearts:

Look for blue sclera glass eyes…the only place I know you can get them is on Once so Real…if you decide to shop there I can help you. I dont speak German (no way to translate the page) but Im accustomed to it and I know where to find this colour. If you want I can take a picture of them. I have some for my River albino baby.

Do you have photos of how they look in a doll? I’m just not finding anything that I think matches her eyes the same

Take a look at the eyes from Cassie Brace’s shop I Art Reborns. I bought some with the blue sclera from her and I believe they were blue grey.

I make these exact same eyes and have been in the process of prototyping others for several years now. Very slow going process since I am a very busy single parent with special needs kids.

Anyway. The reason that these particular eyes are expensive is that they are labor intensive. You know how people think our dolls are so simple? People assume the same here. They are double cast under pressure, irises either painted by hand or digitally painted (these happened to be photographed with a macro lens). They are sanded and buffed. Air bubbles sometimes pop up mid process and ruin everything… there goes a lot of time and materials. Expensive materials.

As far as the irises that are digitally painted go, please tell me why that would be an inferior product? How in the world could a company reproduce on demand the same eyes without doing this? That’s like telling us to paint dolls the same way multiple times and have them look exactly the same.

The fact of the matter is that these can not be compared to the ones from BB or any other $6 eye. You will see as I will send a few samples out when I finish perfecting my process. Trying out new materials now and think I’m pretty close to a good mix.

I haven’t opened up a formal shop yet. I have spent lots of time and $$$$$ playing with various materials. I am a total perfectionist and won’t settle for them being less than amazing. I want hyperrealistic, super shiney, and non-yellowing. I want them so beautiful that people would prefer these over these German glass eyes that we are always chasing. And I’m going to get that price down.

Soon.

I will also be making resin eyes soon…I love the way they look. Huxley number one and my adopted Alfie have resin eyes, I love the way they look

I’m really excited to hear about you making hyper realistic eyes! I’m hyper picky and the fourth seal studios did not live up to that. I’m not happy with the price for the quality I received. I understand the cost of supplies, but at that cost I was hopeful for gorgeous eyes since that’s about the cost of German glass eyes but they fall flat unfortunately in person. There’s just very little depth to them and I expected more. :woman_shrugging:t2: Learned my lesson though and I’m still going to be shopping around.
