Reborning Bereguer dolls?

Has anyone done it? I kind of want to try it, but can I bake them the same?
I saw a youtube video of it being done and feel inspired.

Those are the first Reborns. Some people still use the dolls to make babies.

I got my start with reborn Berenguers. It was a totally different process back then. Then I took about a 12 year break and came back this year to this new paint style and endless, realistic, soft, blank kits. It’s way better now.
As for the Berenguers, they make beautiful reborns. But it takes work before you can even start. They have painted hair, lips and blushing that you have to remove. The heads have little grooves mocking hair, so you won’t have a smooth surface. We did paint on the inside then. I’m not sure how the paint would take on the outside…and the babies are already peachy. So you might need to neutralize. Also, the head is harder for rooting, but not any harder than a lot of the high dollar kits you buy now.

I bought a walmart JC toy doll to remake…

It took me hours to get the limbs off and the eyes out…

Then I decided it was to much of a hassle and put it back together and gave it to my 4 yr old.

Here are some of my reborn Berenguers. I had some more realistic ones. But all of my pictures are on old floppy disks. I found these several years ago on a doll site where I had a featured artist page. I don’t even remember which site that was. It was one of the big ones. They had pages for about 20 of us. I guess there are way too many reborners now to even think about having featured artist pages. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I want to make an Adora reborn baby. They look cute with new paint.

Cool! Thanks ladies! I saw a video of this lady who added to the berenguer babies, so she didn’t really take anything off. I think it’s so cool! She said she was donating them to resthomes, and she made it look so simple! Think it might be a fun idea to try and give to my little one. She also wants me to try my hand at Repainting monster high dolls but…we’ll see…haha. My little one is getting into babies and barbies now! She even asked me to put a paci in her doll but…it’s a plastic doll and very stumpy limbs…wouldn’t think I could really do anything with it.

Adora dolls are cute, but rock hard. I don’t think you’d ever be able to root one. And I’m not sure about getting the eyes out. Sounds tricky. Let us know if you end up trying one.

I can’t remember if that woman took her doll’s eyes out. She didn’t root due to the hard vinyl. I wonder if painted hair looks good on them? On Paradise Galleries they sell actual reborn babies for over a thousand as a premium brand.

I don’t know about the new ones, but I bought several when I was going to start reforming about 11 plus years ago. Then I learned we had a new grandbaby on the way and I put that all aside. But I can say they already have painted hair and really cute faces. The one I took apart was very hard to do. It is still a part in a bag. When I back to it this year there are so many wonderful doll kits ready to reborn and I just haven’t gone back to them. They are dressed and look so cute I just leave them on display. Just throwing in my thoughts. I DO want to see one if you make it. It would be really nice to see.

This is the first Berenguer I did. I’m working on another one right now. I love their little faces and their hands and feet are pretty detailed. I make a neck and put mine on cloth bodies because I don’t like that they look like they’re trying to sit up. I make belly plates with the bodies. I rooted her hair. It wasn’t hard.

You can run your sink water the hottest you can and then run it over the joints and they should pop out.
