Does anyone know of a calculator or chart that you can use to calculate how much weight to put in your reborns thank you
If I remember correctly, I use the formula: height in inches x 3.5= the weight in oz.
This is a great question!!!
I used this info for my first doll and to reweight my daughter doll and love the results. The actual calculator isn’t available but I just plugged the percentages into a calculator and used a baby weighing scale to get each part to where I wanted it to be.
Weight distribution - good weight is the length in inches x 3.5oz
OR
Head - 25%
Arms - 3 % each
Legs - 10% each
Torso - 51%
Kim from custom doll baby has a reborn calculator for purchase on her website. It tells you how much to weight each limb for your overall desired weight or “natural” weight for the dolls size
Don’t think Kim is reborning dolls I’ve reached out over the past 18 months for advice with no responses.
I did this and love the feel.
I took the height X 3.5 it came to 4#
I weighed all the vinyl parts first
Than I put 25% in the head
51% in the torso but divided it by 3. I put 2/3 of the weight in the bum the other 1/3 in the chest.
Arms at 3% each
Legs at 10% each.
Wouldn’t that add up to 102%? Sorry if I’m being really dense here
Yeah it is but it isn’t exact. Sometimes the math is too difficult to get. Like 3 and 47/60 ounces. So it evens out. Head and torso are there most important in my book. The vinyl in theblimbs are heavier to start with than they should be before I add weight…
I don’t have a formula. I like my dolls on the heavier side. All my kids were solid. I use glass beads in the arms, legs and butt and polypellets in the head and torso.
Yes, it would be 102, but those %% just for approximate proportions.
Thank you for replying . That makes sense.
You’re using both glass and poly-pellets in the body? How you doing this? I’ve always wanted to do the butt separately with glass but I’ve been unsure how to go about it.
I sew a little pouch out of fabric, fill it with a funnel and sew up the hole. Then nestle it in the butt. :0)
