REBORN DOLLS - BEWARE - Scammer site stealing photos, CALL TO ACTION, new sites are opening and using different artist photos

Saw a seller on eBay last night that had a knock-off Saskia. She appeared to be a new artist as her dolls look truly horrid, as if she has no idea how to properly reborn a doll. She also was selling one of those ugly shrunken Saskia’s with the big head on a small body. I thought about contacting her but figured she’d either have no clue what I was telling her or not care. These new “artists” are coming into the community, either not having a clue about the knockoffs and/or why they are wrong or they just don’t care or see it as any kind of big deal.

Really upsets me how things are going. When I found this hobby in 2012 I was so excited. I’d been an artist all my life and had found something new I could try and excel at, because I love babies. And now to see it being destroyed by all of this is really hard.

Do it! Your work is gorgeous, and you work hard and you are honest. People need to see your babies.

Someone contact me on Instagram because she is a subscriber to my YouTube channel and she was proud to tell me she just bought a fake kit on AliExpress to dpaint her first.
Her excuse was thatshe didn’t want to spend too much money before knowing if she will be able to do it…

Mylast video was about knock off kits :confounded:

I have suggested her to buy a plastic play doll to practice and put money aside for buying a legit kit.
People seem to not understand that this art is not cheap.

I tell people to start with used Berenguers off eBay, like I did. They hold up well under heat and even work well with air dry paints. And they are cute.

I bought a Tacy kit from Marita and went on reborns.com to see if there were any on there. Someone is selling theirs as a LONG SOLD OUT KIT. But Tacy kits are still available on Marita’s website. I sent her a nice message, which she saw, but didn’t respond. And she never changed her ad. I thought maybe she had just made a mistake in her listing, but I guess not.

On Facebook I have seen quite a few ads from people saying they are just collectors and got the doll with no COA and some I simply do not believe. I think they are newer artists who know they have a fake and think this makes people less suspicious.

Oh goodness! Thank you so much- I just am not a good social media user- never gonna be an “influencer” LOL!

I think it’s becoming common for people to say it’s a sold out kit, or rare, when in reality it may just be unavailable right now. Buzzwords to make it seem like you should jump at the chance to purchase.

Drives me crazy.
Temporarily out of stock is not sold out

I know. And that kit isn’t even sold out at all right now. It just bothers me that she left it in her ad, knowing it’s not accurate.
On the other hand, I wish BB would say when a kit is discontinued. I have a few older kits that I don’t know if they’ll ever restock. I highly doubt it, so it would be nice if I could specify that in my ads.

I thought BB used to have their older kits labeled as discontinued. Now it’s impossible to tell. I don’t want to be waiting for something I’ll never have either. Maybe at this point the kits are so low in stock they could decide to bring some back and don’t want to consider them discontinued. :woman_shrugging:t2:

I wish that their discontinued kits could still be viewed on the site, even if they were in a separate area with a large “Discontinued” across the page. It’s nice to see the prototypes and extremely useful to see recommended body, eye size, plug, ring, and wig information.

Was thinking this recently, too, when I tried to find info on Presley Asleep. I took mine out recently to paint him and can’t remember what his size is. Purchased him when he was first released in 2014. Sat up at midnight to order him, and he sold out fast.

It’s just photos, not kit info.

The kits I have aren’t on there. For example, my Isaac. It just says out of stock, with a spot to be notified when it is restocked. But I’m pretty sure this is an old kit. Not sure what the chances are of it ever being restocked, especially with it being 3/4 limbs.

Not all of the older kits have been discontinued. Isaac has not been. He’s just out of stock and not currently available. Discontinued kits are no longer being produced.

Isaac would fall in the green part. Will be restocked but not sure on the estimated dates yet

Yes, I saw that. But will it really be restocked? Lol

If he wasn’t going to be restocked BB would say so. They have discontinued many kits. Even ones people loved and wanted them to keep making. Lol. Isaac will be back.
