I don’t want to come off as complaining. Just feeling defeated and quite frankly shocked that my Gracie Mae hasn’t found a home. Its been about 61 days with her listed on the Reborns site, frequently featured and showcased every single day (which gets expensive). She was actively shared on my Instagram weeks before being listed. I’ve also been sharing her on various Facebook Groups every now and then with no luck.
I get various compliments on her but little interest unless it’s for very long payment plans and that’s not something I’ve ever done not nor am interested in.
I had her listed originally for $1,300 shipped. With her micro-mono rooted hair using 3 different hair colors and various painted facial details etc. Her body is signed by LLE as well.
Now it’s down to $925 shipped unless a potential buyer is open to F&F in which I would even take $885 shipped.
For this discount I was aiming for a quick sale. I’d preferably to get her sold before the 19th as I’ll be traveling away to family for an unknown amount of time and the funds would help.
I had made an Instagram post expressing the price drop and have gotten no engagement whatsoever. I’m absolutely shocked.
Im not sure what to think; with how hard it is trying to get her to sell. I see various dolls selling, even Gracie Maes recently. As far as others selling, High end and beginner Reborns alike. My main shock is just how much I’ve been lowering her price and she STILL won’t sell or gain any more interest than before. I can’t comprehend going lower, her rooting took me 5 months to do.
I feel weak thinking about how hard this is, for her to sell specifically and that’s a vulnerable thing for me to admit. I was so proud with how she came out.
I know the market is flooded with beginner artists and I know counterfeits are becoming more popular as well which is extremely unfortunate. But Authentic Reborns are still selling, I worry there’s something wrong with mine? Idk how to feel.
I really appreciate anyone who took the time to read all of this. I wasn’t sure who to turn to. Not sure what to expect when making this post either. Just feeling really defeated and trying not to get too worked up about it. I know dolls can float around for months but with the exposure I try to give her along with all the price cuts recently, I’m shocked its not doing a single thing . Its extremely depressing for me.
I’ve had dolls sit around for months to almost a year, with little interest beyond favoriting. For a while it bothered me to no end and I figured my reborning days were over. And then finally I would sell one. It’s pretty discouraging, but it looks like you had some other sales? Try not to be too depressed. Every doll eventually finds a home. I hope she sells soon for you
This happens and then suddenly the baby finds a Mom. Don’t lose your enthusiasm for painting. I have 4 babies that are returning to the Kansas Doll Show from last year and I hope they find homes this year…
Yeah . It just sucks, I can understand a doll with a steady price could take more time to sell. But I’m really trying to appease the audience with the crazy price cuts. Usually then do I get a sale, yet nothing with this doll.
I was able to sell my Aria, but other than that, I had to sell my collection Charlotte either way since Gracie wasn’t selling.
Your Gracie is lovely. Don’t be discouraged (even tho it’s hard) i had a doll on there for close to 3 months last year…i thought she was just going to be a permanent resident. Then out of the blue… someone fell in love with her… so Gracie’s mom is out there. She just hasn’t seen her yet!!!
I looked on reborns.com and I feel like reborns have REALLY gone up in price. I was worried about having to charge considerably more than in the past (I took a hiatus) because materials have obviously gone up quite a bit, but now I’m thinking this is what people are paying, upwards of $1000. Is that a realistic conclusion for a well-crafted reborn?
There are around 20 Gracie Maes for sale on Reborns so you have some competition. Your rooting is beautiful and her lip color is gorgeous. I will say the two lines on the side of her face look kinda strange to me.
Not really sure how to find the reference right off the bat but lots of newborns, especially fresh newborns tend to scratch their face a bit. Especially in that area. 2 lines indicate 2 little finger nails.
But even so it’s already painted on I wouldn’t want to go through the hassle of messing with her.
Plus I had gotten various compliments about her, people stating “she’s one of my favorite versions” or favorite in general by tons of people. Haven’t had anybody whom may be interested, express a dislike to her face scratches, I tend to create many dolls with blemishes. She almost sold twice but the first buyer disappeared and the second decided against it due to money reasons though she really wanted to buy. She has 32 favorites on Reborns
Depending on the painting and rooting I suppose though it seems lots of rooted haired dolls are only selling for around $850 or less even if they are valued higher. ,(Unless you’re a really well known artist) Its getting crazy.
I meant no offense. Someone on here just posted their new grandbaby and he has lots of scratches. Just saying that not everyone likes that on their dolls and I didn’t know if that was a factor. She is beautiful regardless. Her coloring is so nice 🩷
No worries. I get it, my art style I always try to incorporate blemishes here and there. Along with lots of face fuzzies. Its not for everyone but I know lots of high end collectors especially enjoy the unique blemishes. Something different from the rest.
I have a doll that has been up like months now. I really don’t promote her anymore. She will show up in searches and will always be on the last pages I guess. She is kinda quirky and not everyone’s cuppa. I’ve had a few of my painted hair dolls take a minute to sell too. Just keep creating and listing your sweet new babes and one day you will wake up to this one being sold.
